nervous for first day of training (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by lxvsick
i start my first day of training in a few hours and i’m kind of freaking out. i have social anxiety and this is my first job. what should i expect from todays training? also this may seem like a dumb question but what do i do when i walk in? i assume i tell whoever is at the register that i’m there for training but i just want somebody to confirm that because i overthink a lot and it would help put my mind at ease a bit if i knew for sure.

Yeah that’s fine you can just let them know at register you’re there for training. Don’t stress everyone has a first day. You’re gonna do great, have fun

Hey, you’re gonna have a lot of fun!! We have a ton of trainees at my store and they love the new training. Your first day you’ll most likely do a coffee tasting and a learning module online along with a lot of compliance stuff which will also be online. The new training is different so you’ll do one module a day (hot bar, cold bar, CS, register, oven, etc) and the next day you will practice that same skill. So today if you’re doing a register module, your next shift you should be put on register so you can practice what you learned. You’ll learn a ton so take a few notes on some of the drinks that are outside the standard just to make it easier on yourself! Hope it goes well:)

Hey! Perfectly normal to feel like that. Act like you belong there (cause you do). Just go up the front and say you’re here for your first day of training and they’ll help you out. Honestly a saying that helped me is ‘don’t think just do’ It helps a lot to get anything done instead of sitting there over thinking! So on my first day I remember they had me watch some videos, go over the benefits, coffee tasting, and I got to train on bar for a good amount of time. Everyone has a first day you’ve got nothing to worry about.
