hi i have an interview tomorrow and i was wondering if there was a way to “fail” an interview so i can avoid doing whatever it is. i really want to leave my job at target lol i also put open availability.

i wouldn’t say there’s a way to fail, it’s more of if your qualifications meet their needs. just be yourself and be friendly! they’re looking for people with willingness to learn, take on responsibility, and make what they call “best moments” for the customers. i would do just some research on the company, and try not to stress!! if you have any questions feel free to pm me :)

thank you so much! do you know what i should research specifically?

personally before i interviewed i just watched a ton of videos on starbucks interviews, “a day in the life” type things, just to familiarize yourself with the type of work you’d be doing. just go in with some ideas of what’s expected of a barista, and make sure to wake up early, shower, eat a healthy breakfast, put on (appropriate) clothes you feel comfortable in, whatever it takes to give you the most confidence you can have! like the other commenter said, act like you belong there, and if you don’t already think so- convince yourself you do!

update: i think it went well! thanks everyone for your suggestions she said it’s most likely id get hired and she’d get back to me either later today or on sunday :)

If it’s at Starbucks, your answers honestly don’t matter so long as you can prove you can hold conversation and be a bubbly friendly person

the thing that people that don’t get a call back struggle with the most is actually really simple. they don’t answer the question!!! a lot of people wanna work at starbucks but are young and don’t prepare themselves for the interview. be confident in your answers, make direct eye contact, and practice an answer for the types of questions they might ask :)!

Yah you don’t wanna seem robotic in your interview! Be yourself, make sure to smile and act like you belong there. When you talk about previously working at target don’t make the situation sound really bad but be casual about why you’re leaving. Just don’t sound negative! Good luck :)

do you think saying starbucks has a better environment compared to target would be ok? i was thinking of saying something along the lines of i like how it would be faster paced and has more customer interaction. since i work with the clothing guests don’t really talk to us as much

Yess that’s a perfect answer. Talk about how you would like to work at a fast past atmosphere and like talking to people. You can say that at target you would mostly work with clothes and not get to talk to customers. That’s a really good response. Let us know how it goes! Good luck :)

that’s exactly what i said! i think that’s perfect, make it about how you feel your skills and desires fit better with a company like starbucks instead of target. i would try to include the things you learned from target, and how you think starbucks will make use of these and help to furnish your skills. they’re looking for hard workers, and ones that can handle lots of pressure and still put on a smile. if you can do these things, definitely push that!
