do people even know what they’re ordering (i.redd.it)

Dan sure doesn't.

A lot of the time, no. I will say, it wouldn't be hard to have a one time warning on the app that the order makes no sense (said in a much nicer way). One of the baristas at my store also brought up that it would be cool to have a "tutorial" on how to order drinks on the app, along with a little course or index of what different drinks are.

i feel like the people in charge of designing the app and the menu boards are dumb and/or lazy because why do they make it so confusing for people who have never been to starbucks or know very little about coffee drinks. if you are a major coffee company you have the resources to help your customers understand your product a little bit better. the
menu boards always seem so vague to me. like it shows one size: grande and throws a couple drinks on there. and some boards are dedicated to one drink.

I truly hate the menu boards at starbucks. Like half the drinks arent on it at all and you get people constantly like “do u only have those 2 frapps” when Starbucks actually has like 15 different ones, and then it’s overwhelming to the customer when you read them out and its a ton of options

I'm pretty sure the menu is like that to cut down on the amount of differant types of things that can be ordered by just anybody. Like to see if they can coax people into choosing between 20 drinks instead of 40 to make things a little easier? I'm not saying it works but I've seen a lot of kitchen nightmares where Gordon takes a 4 page menu to a 4 dish menu

True true. Also, the app is so badly designed and explained that we had someone order a cold brew with the modifier "decaf" which isn't possible obviously. But I look at the app and decaf was a modifier for any shots that you wanna add into the cold brew. But for some reason you can change that option without first adding shots. Like, why

I think it would be helpful to have something on the app that helps/guides people into getting what they want. Lol but people will get offended at that probably..because when Baristas try to help customers in store with ordering things like when we ask them questions to clarify what they want or when we try to let them know that what they're asking for is not able to be done etc, they always get offended and angry lol i wonder if they would get mad at the app and offended if helpful guides and tips were applied in there

the answer is simply ✨no✨ they dont

Dan is pushing everything & everyone's buttons.
Holydrip713 9 points 10m ago
I can’t stand when they order a grande in a tall 🤦🏻‍♂️
CheesiestSlice 9 points 10m ago
No, of course not, but if they whoopsie daisy their way into ordering a quad shot with no additional steps you won't catch me complaining.
Necessary_Low939 7 points 10m ago
Damn Dan.
b__mo 6 points 10m ago
Dan you alright?
Electrical_Metal_106 5 points 10m ago
We have a guy that gets this at my store. They want an ice cup because they are going to add ice to it when they get to work. Maybe Dan wants the same. I was definitely confused the first time I saw our regular’s order until I asked them.
Psychological-Tax543 6 points 10m ago
It just seems like extra steps. If they want ice why do they order it without? I understand not wanting the shots watered down but they could drink it on the way too
Electrical_Metal_106 1 points 10m ago
For sure! My coffee barely makes it out of the drive thru let alone all the way to another location 😂

Now, in Dan's defense:

He was probably looking at iced coffees and saw that the app used the same fucking picture for Iced Coffee and Iced Espresso. If you click on it, it says that Doppio is the standard. Probably went "the fuck is a doppio? i ain't touchin that" and changed the number of shots to 4. Maybe he thought it was already pre-chilled and didn't want it watered down...? idk

Dan, it tastes better served “upside down” 🤭
psionicillusionist 3 points 10m ago
Took me a minute, but I realized he just wants it cold... it's a fundamental misunderstanding of the build and brewing of these drinks.
Fluid-Opportunity671 3 points 10m ago
No

nonogender 2 points 10m ago
i once got an order for a vanilla bean frap with no ice. i put it up on the counter like that bc i dont want people to yell at me for doing things wrong lol. the customer came in and said their kid must not have understood the app 🤪
esp1ced 2 points 10m ago
