Short Rant (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Kyde_Drakes
Not looking for advice or anything. Just ranting. Welp, I was trying to transfer to a new store in a new state because my boyfriend got a promotion and we can move out of this terrible city we live in. However, I was told if I wanted to work at any of the stores in that area (it’s a relatively small town) that I would need to demote down to a barista and get -maybe- 20 hours.

I’m not demoting myself for anything. I worked my butt off for this promotion, and if there isn’t any room for a SSV now then why would there be any time soon? I’m just defeated. Now it’s my fault we can’t move, because he’s not going without me. I know he doesn’t blame me, but I still feel guilty as hell.

Can you get the contact for the DM in the area and contact them directly? I know it sounds like a roundabout way to go about it but more often than not your DM has a number in mind more so than the Store Managers do. Sometimes, not always. Of course each manager knows their store more than a DM does on a personal level but some are not comfortable making the decision to add a shift or think they manage just fine with less and do not communicate the want for another shift but the DM might disagree. Its a super long shot but it also doesn't hurt to like get to know the DM in the area and just get yourself known in a good way and make a good impression.

I hadn’t thought of that. My current DM knows my situation, so I can see if they can help put in a good word for me. I’ll try to track down that areas DM, too.
