Drive thru killed the third place. If you’re going to a cafe, congrats. That’s the closest the siren gets to the continental cafe experience Coward Shultz envisioned decades ago.

I’ve only worked in drive stores and I’m always curious what it would be like to not have a drive bar! Good luck!

I’ve never worked at a drive through store, I work at a Starbucks in a Mall, it is very busy, we had a borrowed partner from a drive through store who said that it wasn’t very busy when indeed it was crowded in the store.

3 yr partner here, 2.5 of that as a barista

I was in a busy drive through that made 9-12k a day, and was one of the highest selling stores in western Canada. I miss my team and my home store but at the same time I love my current team and Cafe store

this is gonna sound bad but I was under the impression a café store would not be as strict on standards compared to a DT (my original store is very standards based) but honestly I've loved my experience in both.

I recently helped a DT close cause their SSV called out and honestly? I missed taking orders for the first few orders over headset, but I've come to the realization I MUCH MUCH MUUUUCH prefer Cafe. no doubt.

not as many metrics to worry about, yeah you still get crazy customers and crazy frappadappa foam drinks but idk it's just different In a Cafe. and that's not to say that we're not busy still we average like 6k and once construction near us is done we will probably go back to 8-10k (busy area). I'd say try to keep an open mind if transferring into a Cafe, the experience more likely than not should be good, ofcourse depending on certain faftors . it's just an adjustment period at first.

if anything I've also become better at "connections" with customers since I'm not as stressed which tbh to me like yes ofcourse I'll provide good customer service skills etc, but at the same time my main goal every shift I run is more about partner experience tbh than it is customers.
