Hey! Congratulations. So there are some baristas that will complain about literally doing anything. However there are also a lot of strong baristas that enjoy doing their job and go out of their way for customers and the quality. People say random stuff on tiktok about baristas all the time. As long as you know you’re doing a good job and enjoying what you do - you’ve got nothing to worry about what your friends think about you working at Starbucks.

As someone who’s been working for almost twenty years and had about a dozen jobs I can’t say with confidence that Starbucks has some of the rudest, most entitled, demanding customers I’ve ever come across, and the pay isn’t something most people can live on. That being said, there are definitely worse/more dangerous/bothersome jobs

There will always be baristas who complain about quite literally everything. A good portion of the time it’s justified, but when it’s not it gets draining pretty quickly. The hatred Starbucks baristas get on TikTok is highly unwarranted though— it’s always entitled customers who feel attacked by vague posts surrounding the idea of making 6am custom frappuccinos, for example.

I have made lifelong friends at my store, and the sense of community with my other baristas makes the rude customers worth it, usually. Starbucks is fun, especially when you don’t have people yelling at you over problems they’re creating. It’s the best, and my favourite, job I’ve ever had.
