I'm curious when do you guys think is about the latest you should in theory call out. How many hours before your shift?
Asking because I got in a little bit of trouble for calling out 2 hours beforehand when at a previous store it was different

IIRC the time frame is in the employee handbook,

Most jobs I've ever worked 2 hours is appropriate.

There is no time frame other than “as much notice as possible” for Starbucks

At my store we’re told by the SM it should be 4 hours before unless there is a specific circumstance where you can’t call in earlier (e.g. you’re an opener and something happened overnight but there’s no one working to receive your call when you realize you can’t go in or sudden GI illness—things like that). I’m unsure if this is from a company document bc that specific number doesn’t exist in the partner guide afaik

In all sop it'll say min 2 or 3 hours but frankly what are they going to do about it. If my tummy starts to hurt a little too bad as I leave the house I'm not going to work u know?

At least 2 hrs is always best

The partner guide says to give as much notice as possible.

If you don’t think you’ll pass Covid check, call the store ASAP and find out. Most of the questions state “within 24 hours” anyways so even if you feel better later you should stay home. If you’re just generally not feeling well, still call as soon as you think you can’t come in. If you feel better later, you can always check if they got coverage and go in if they didn’t, but that at least gives them time to try

Think of it like a traveler. It’s much easier for everyone involved to plan ahead. We can make it work on short notice, but a little heads-up can make a difference.
