odd question about scheduling (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by trentablondelatte
is it normal it work 10 days in a row? i have a Monday and Tuesday of one week and the next week i have a Saturday the Sunday off. I might just be stupid but i feel like i have never worked 10 days in a row 😂

They definitely shouldn’t be schedule 10 days in a row. The system populates a warning when you try to schedule more than 5 in a row.

No, it doesn't. It populates a warning if you schedule more than 5 days in one week, but it definitely does not do so for consecutive days.
stillwantthewhip 2 points 10m ago
It does. There’s a specific warning for max number of 5 for consecutive days. It’s kept me from doing what has happened to OP.

Where does the warning populate?

i know it’s on separate weeks cause i have 2 days off each week but it’s so weird to work 10 days in a row. I’m surprised my manager did this cause she never has. Like idk how to tell her since she already made the schedule and is leaving for a month

If your manager is pretty chill with shift swaps I’d swap it with someone else to get a day off in the middle or if you don’t need the hours try and get one covered. (I know it’s SM to SM how much they let you do this, so sorry if yours won’t let you)

I used to get scheduled like this all the freaking time. It’s annoying af, usually it happens when the sm makes the new schedule without actually looking at the week before, and they dont realize you were scheduled that many days back to back. You can try talking to your manager about it, mine were usually pretty understanding that working 10 days like that isnt exactly doable for everyone and would swap some shifts around for me.

i requested the sunday off and maybe she was just being nice and gave the the saturday off as well but it really is messing me up in the long run 😭 but thank u i will talk to her about it !

They did that to me during the pandemic, I ultimately ended up quitting. Also I called in one of the days because I’m not working 10 days in a row period. 🤣 hire more people

so many people are on vacation apparently and need time off so i’m stuck opening almost every day
mewwissa 2 points 10m ago
Ugh that’s terrible. I can’t relate though, I was the opener SSV so I opened every shift and worked til 3pm sometimes because we’d be so short handed and slammed. So not worth it, for me at least. I was only making $12.76/hr at the time and now I recently learned SSVs are making $20/hr now at my old store. Makes me so mad because they could’ve been paying us that the whole time 😒

i though it was 6 or 7 consecutive days max? i would check w the manager see if it was a scheduling error cus i definitely dont think thats policy
trentablondelatte [OP] 1 points 10m ago
honestly have no idea, like i’m sure i’ll be fine but idk 😂

my manager at my old store has been doing this to my coworkers a lot, it’s essentially based on the fact they just don’t look at the schedule they previously made/didn’t think to do so. they technically can do that but i’d def just give your manager a heads up bc they probably don’t realize!

I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to work more than 7 days in a row...
