People don’t understand how dairy milk works(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by aGrapeInUtero
Can people who order heavy cream AND skim in their drinks please just get 2%? Or… whole? Like… why. And please stop.
yungfroggie124 points10m ago
yeah somebody asked for their hot latte to be half whole milk half nonfat like um.. ok i guess
kennsnaps54 points10m ago
My store tried this when we ran out of 2% 💀
Michael4242425 points10m ago
Wouldn’t you need to mix 1% and Whole to get close to 2%? Whole milk is 3ish% right?
AdIll794610 points10m ago
Seeing that we make 1% by mixing 2% and nonfat and they were out of 2%…. just do 2/3 whole, 1/3 nonfat lmao

My favourite is when people order a drink with oat milk or whatever and then get vanilla sweet cream foam on top, like you understand that it’s made of heavy cream right??
caitlin_marie_gg60 points10m ago
i like the taste of oat milk 😭😭
ShannyES6 points10m ago
Same. Like - how is it creamier than actual milk?
insertusernameplease47 points10m ago
Ok but I prefer oat milk even though I can have dairy and it tastes better in coffee than dairy but sometimes I still want a little sweet cream ya know? So I get it. Also my husband will have a bad time if his whole drink is dairy but he still tries to take in a bit of dairy for health purposes.
HowtoChair2 points10m ago
What health purposes are achieved with dairy? I’m genuinely curious as I’m debating cutting dairy for health purposes. If there’s hope for saving my cheese habit I’m all ears.
insertusernameplease4 points10m ago
His reasoning is specific to him but he gets kidney stones and consuming dairy helps to prevent them. Not everyone has that issue and not all kidney stones are prevented by dairy. We actually cut down our dairy(and salt) consumption a lot and we’ve felt pretty great.
It_is_Katy3 points10m ago
Not who you were responding to, but you should be aware that completely cutting out dairy for even a short amount of time can actually cause you to become lactose intolerant. It's become a thing now where people will cut out dairy for a month just because it's a fad diet, and then become permanently lactose intolerant. (Not saying that's you, it's just a common thing.)
I had a really weird stomach bug once that messed up my gut and made me lactose intolerant for like six months, and my doctor actually warned me to keep consuming small amounts of dairy so it didn't happen.
Sarah_Grace200541 points10m ago
some dairy is okay but some people can only have so much.
vanilllacakez12 points10m ago
I like foam but regular milk grosses me out. I like a small amount of it and my drink made with alternative milk…
aspiringgrandpa3 points10m ago
cup of milk=will shit self
little bit of milk in sweet cream/whip=maybe a little gassy but mostly okay
fluidrienne1748 points10m ago
Today I had someone order a half almond milk half heavy cream latte and told me to make sure I didn’t mess up😶
Ma’am I’m literally on register I’m not the one making your drink
Buttafly_36029 points10m ago
I hate that, especially when you on bar, handing out drinks and they say "I had a cheese danish warmed too with this" like bro- I'm juss making drinks, my fellow partner at warming got you, juss wait sheesh🤦🏽♀🤦🏽♀
smoolbeean35 points10m ago
one lady complained we accidentally made her white mocha with regular 2% and we were like oh we can remake it and she was like can you please im very allergic to dairy… i was like mmm who gonna tell her
anonymous62488 points10m ago
what milk did she want it with originally ?
gryphon-2126 points10m ago
The white mocha sauce is dairy based, so regardless of the milk she would’ve been exposed to dairy 💀🫠
anonymous62484 points10m ago
omg that’s true, i always forget it has dairy
RudeEstimate224523 points10m ago
There's a lady who gets half soy and half nonfat. Like ma'am why. I get it the vanilla and then less dairy but you're paying more for that then just getting vanilla 😭
Pylon-Cam3 points10m ago
Reminds me of a regular at my old store who would order her drink 2/3 nonfat 1/3 soy 😭
IIRC, it was a venti chai tea latte 2/3 nonfat 1/3 soy no water steamed to 180 degrees with extra cinnamon powder.
Jabuetow16 points10m ago
I don't understand how people can justify paying 1.25 for a splash of sweet cream in their caramel macchiato. ( Was told to charge whole amount since there's no button that doesn't charge for 1/4 sweet cream).
barlemniscate12 points10m ago
There's a new POS update coming that's gonna add that to the dairy menu. I'm not sure what it'll charge, but it's probably (hopefully) less than 1.25.
aspiringgrandpa8 points10m ago
nah i hope if some nasty customer comes in wanting sweet cream as their milk in their latte it charges em $5 for it
barlemniscate3 points10m ago
But sweet cream is good as milk. Especially in fraps.
HAM1SH-5 points10m ago
Enjoy your 3000 calorie frap, it might be delicious but that's because you're drinking liquid sugar combined with liquid sugar, more liquid sugar, a touch of heavy cream, and ice for texture.
Jabuetow1 points10m ago
Oh that's good!
vidadelbm5 points10m ago
In the weekly update it says they’re going to add the vsc to the milk page but they’ll still get charged bc we’re having to make it instead of it coming prepped
sdmh777 points10m ago
People don’t understand that eggnog is disgusting and should NOT be heated to 180-200 degrees so ‘it’s still hot when I get to work’🤦🤦🤦🤦
tatu-lasair5 points10m ago
We have a regular, old retired guy, who gets a heavy cream latte every day... A full Grande... That's almost 1000cal just from the cream but the you add vanilla and shots and whipped cream and you're looking at well over half of your daily recommended intake for the average adult IN A SINGLE BEVERAGE.
Keto people get to me so much also 🙄 like having sugar free doesn't just negate all the calories from the fat as well... Like, I get it, but also you're not really achieving anything here
Bluebilledduck5 points10m ago
When people ask for 1% it just give them skim. Im not combining milks because you're worried about 1% of milk.
tatu-lasair4 points10m ago
Better yet than mixing latte milk... 'can you make the VSC dairy/sugar free?'... technically no but I can make something else that'll be disappointing at best and stressful to all of us to figure out, y'know, if you're cool with that 🙃🙄😒
Necessary_Low9393 points10m ago
I just give them half and half.
caitlin_marie_gg3 points10m ago
i had someone ask for half 2% and half nonfat
borrowedurmumsvcard19 points10m ago
see that’s kind of understandable because that’s like getting 1% milk which we don’t have
fuckinweed692 points10m ago
Today someone ordered a breve latte with a splash of whole milk. I'm not mad I just don't understand
