Solo running DTO/DTR & bar at opening.(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Luna_1406
Hello,so I'm a new bean with only 3 months experince working and I've done doloy opening and closing work on weekends. Recently at my opening I've been asked to run drive thru and make drinks SOLO (this includes moblie orders) while my ssv and other partner do what they need for food and registers. I'm asking for any tips and advice for how to pace my self and what order to do it all in a timely manner because recently I've been overwhelmed with it all. My ssv was kind enough to give me a moment afterwords outside of my 10 to talk about it and gave me an idea of creating a routine to follow but when I tried it the next time it didn't really work. I wanna be a stronger worker when it comes to opening but this really weights me down understanding wise. Thanks in advance.

woah me too! started in june, and i have also had to do dto/bar and tbh it’s unfair. maybe ask if ur other partner can do warming/dto bc i feel like that’s easier than bar/dto, especially if you’re doing mobiles too

I do when i can actually and it works pretty well but recently I can't it's been me a ssv and trainee newly on the floor who hasn't finshed training yet. It's been really hectic.

Opening SSV here.
Our store typically opens w/ 3 people also (2 baristas and 1 SSV). I have the more experienced partner on DTO/DTR & bar and the less experienced one at the front register and warming station. The tricky part is when the schedule is made so that you have two equally inexperienced partners opening. For the person doing DTO/DTR/bar, I always let them know to call for me as soon as they need assistance on bar because I know it can get overwhelming. Most of our morning SSV duties after opening the store just need to be done eventually, but not immediately (if that makes sense), so I prioritize helping on the floor as needed and then returning to my tasks in between. Can you ask your shift for assistance as needed? Sounds like they're at least somewhat understanding.
