Literally had a panic attack today at work couldn’t breath at all ((like gasping for air in the back room bad)) and then my shift told me It isn’t appropriate to cry in front of customers?? Like am I in the wrong here? Are we genuinely not allowed to have human emotions while on the clock??

your shift should not be a shift lol. it’s literally their job to ensure that partners feel protected and taken care of in the store, and although they can’t prevent every panic attack, they are a huge part in determining the stress levels that can cause them. Not only that, but if a partner is visibly upset for any reason, it’s their job to take steps to ensure that partner feels safe and okay and takes the time they need to themselves. I have fully sent people home (w/ their consent), or on an hour break during their shift for emotional distress. You don’t tell someone to suck it up and move on with the job when they’re feeling mentally unwell. Your SSV is a dick, you didn’t deserve to feel worse in your time of distress, and please please take this straight to your SM/DM depending on who is more helpful.

Whenever one of my shifts makes a snarky comment about the fact that i don’t have a smile on my face my entire shift, i’ll apologize and say “sorry, I forgot I’m just a worthless, coffee-making robot to you. I’ll do better to repress my emotions and feelings even more than I already do. Since you don’t see me as a human and all.”

Like, I talk to customers and smile at them. But I’m not going to stand here like 😀😆😄😃😁 for 8.5 hours. I feel like a fake smile looks much less welcoming than a real smile. Even our SM isn’t smiling 100% of the time and she’s a very smiley person
