does anyone have any advice on how to confront my manager? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by ghlow
I have four facial piercings; My nostril, nose bridge, and two eyebrow piercings. I cover my eyebrow and bridge with a bandage when i work, and i wear a mask. I dont want to cover my bridge anymore, and I know that it’s in dress code because the dresscode says one facial piercing is allowed without saying which kind, but on my first day my manager told me that rule only applies to septum or nostril piercings. That’s the only reason i’ve been covering my bridge since. I was okay going along with it bc i was under the impression that the piercing rules would be changing anyways, but now that i’ve found out they’re not (i’m enraged over that lowkey) I want to talk to my manager and get him to allow me at least this one to be visible.

Does anybody have any advice on how to approach him? hes mostly an agreeable guy, but i have a violent fear of the word “no” as well as terrible confrontation anxiety, so anything helps <:)

Just have the old dress code and the new statement with you to point to and talk to him about it. The old one still readily pops up if you search dress code on the hub. It just limits the size of the one piercing, not what is pierced. Say calmly that you understand the documents to mean that your piercing is fine, unless he can't point to something different that says otherwise. Bring the evidence, be calm and open to what he has to say afterward, but you're right, as far as I know.
