the attitude of some baristas is gross. (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Torirock10
like i read some of y’all’s posts on here and it’s like bro… like one person said they wear watches at work (and when i told them it’s a health code violation they just didn’t care 💀) and i’ve seen a lot of ppl on tiktok (not target baristas btw, corporate ones!) with full sets of acrylics on and shit

and i see so many people being just deadass lazy and not shaking refreshers or pink drinks and making iced london fogs with iced black tea instead of earl grey

and it’s like … bruh what r yall doing 😭 like it’s just fr laziness like why do you not give a fuck it’s so weird. like you want to be paid more but can’t even do what you get paid to do well .. :/ if you don’t care why should you get paid more
borrowedurmumsvcard 166 points 10m ago
or when they complain about simple modifications like soy milk or blonde shots or light ice. none of those things takes that much extra work. Im not bothered by any customizations unless the customer is rude. that’s our job?
Torirock10 [OP] 67 points 10m ago
yeah like sorry that some ppl will shit and die from drinking dairy !!
zoidberg3000 18 points 10m ago
It’s me, I’m the people. When I started working at Starbucks I was shocked at how many of the people in my store would just shrug when they accidentally put regular milk instead of an alternative or whole milk instead of nonfat. It was the exact opposite of restaurants so I was surprised.
diphenhydranautical 36 points 10m ago
i really hate this bc for so long (before i was a partner) i thought i was “extra” and “annoying” for ordering my drinks with non dairy milk. that was the only modification i did!!!! it’s literally nothing!!!!!! and i know so many of our customers feel the same way!!!!!!!! they’ll be like “can i get an iced chai with….im so sorry…… ^^^oatmilk”
borrowedurmumsvcard 24 points 10m ago
right it’s not an extra step it’s literally just grabbing a different kind of milk
imathrowayslc 19 points 10m ago
Except soy. Idk why or how but I swear soy shoots out at a random angle every time I pour it so I have to get a rag and cleanup.
diphenhydranautical 3 points 10m ago
i do have trouble with the oatmilk sometimes when the cap doesn’t completely break the seal! and of course it only happens during peak when i really don’t have the time to deal with it 🥰
Asunaturtle 3 points 10m ago
Glad I'm not the only one 😅
th3_thing 13 points 10m ago
And this is why when they order Chai with oat milk I tell them I get my chai the same way and make a joke about possibly being long lost twins. I feel wicked bad when customers feel bad about a basic order. Like trust me, the most annoying people are always the ones in drive thru on Saturday morning ordering $200 of product and not thinking of what that does to our drive time. And yes, there was an actual $200 order in drive thru once
pipebombings 117 points 10m ago
i agree so many baristas at my store are just nasty like leaving milks out or not caring if they pull the wrong shots, cleanliness etc. Honestly, would you want YOUR drink served like that..? Just awful!
Tuuuucc 63 points 10m ago
It pisses me off when they leave the shakers on the counter without rinsing them out. Or not wiping their areas down. My coworkers are REALLY bad about not wiping down the counters. I don't care how busy it is. I wipe the counters down as I go. I cannot stand working on a messy syrup/cookie crumble-coated surface.
pipebombings 20 points 10m ago
Shakers disgust me so so badly, if there’s still residue leftover I will wash it but some partners will not do this and there will be leftover matcha or milk…
Emarie2200 8 points 10m ago
Yea… our shakers don’t get actually washed until close. It’s kind of really awful. We don’t run small wares timers at all. I’ve tried so many times to set it up and do it. No one follows, so I gave up.
GarbageValuable1888 4 points 10m ago
At my store, it took a LOT of coaching as a barista trainer. Over time, as staff turnover happened, my cleanliness minions became the majority of the partners at my store 😈😈😈
lilmissambersue 21 points 10m ago
Omg...I helped out at a drive through once and they left the milks out with the lid offf...they lost like every milk lid. They would also leave them up against the espresso machine and I grabbed one and it was WARM....
Leaving the ice bin open drives me insane too and I would be closing all the bins after people all day long
pipebombings 6 points 10m ago
Godspeed to you for having a Drive thru, we are only a kiosk here! I used to have a bad habit of losing lids when I was starting, but seeing older partners do it is crazy. Dropped like two cartons of milk last week excuse people don’t leave the lids on 🙂
Magicenbykat 6 points 10m ago
The store I just trained at was like this, NOT what I expected from a Starbucks at all. Now this next training store I'm at is much better and I'm constantly pointing out things I didn't know were standard and my trainer is *shocked*. Even I, a green bean, know to put milk back in the fridge after you use it, and would go to wipe counters while on CS when they'd stay dirty for hours. Nasty.

My first day I mentioned the HUGE puddle of milk in the bottom of the fridge and asked if we should stop to clean that and was told I KID YOU NOT "nah it's easier to clean once it's gelled" like 🤢
Torirock10 [OP] 83 points 10m ago
and like the amount of times i’ve seen ppl jus do straight up gross shit like not wash their hands after handling money and touching customers food with their bare hands…. and they find a way to blame all of this on anyone but themself.

“i wasn’t trained” “my store manager makes us have fast drive thru times” bro shut the fuck up!!! stop making excuses for urself!!! ur gross
th3_thing 15 points 10m ago
Actually this is why I get wicked anal about having a bottle of hand sani next to drive thru window. The amount of times I've seen customers cough in their hand in front of me and then hand me money like nothing happened shocks me
Danny_z64 13 points 10m ago
I voted up because if u don't comply with the hive mindset they'll turn on u and like downcote tf outta u

My sm has us have great dt times but we still follow standards and most of us at my store like working there. Maybe 2 or 3 out of 30 partners total don't like it there

Someone posted about Shultz yacht or whatever, it was mostly "I hope it sinks" which, he has a yacht or whatever idc, but the one person said "goals" got downvoted.
Like I'm sorry but I wanna work hard enough to own a dinghy.

If the sm and SSVs don't follow standards neither will the partners
Torirock10 [OP] 9 points 10m ago
fr it’s crazy how little people gaf. like imagine at mcdonald’s u order a big mac n they’re like ughhh i hate making those so they jus give u a double cheeseburger and hope u don’t notice. like it’s just laziness
suicidalbutterfli 11 points 10m ago
former mcd's worker here that is exactly what the nightshift would do. Oh you dont want mustard so they hide it under the extra mayo you didn't like bcus the person ordered ketchup only , or if you were told a customer wanted extra mayo this one dude would overload it with mayo it was gross I got into trouble so many times bcus in the mornings we were told to use the old fish grease that had been sitting in the vat for over a week and to use that to make the breakfast items. It was so gross but I refused to do that an would go an open a fresh oil and pour it onto the the breakfast cooker side like what this district manager didnt get was some people were allergic to fish and before me people would be getting fish flavored eggs, sausage, Canadian bacon. It was meant to cut cost thats why they did this. just the thought of it makes me still sick to my stomach after that job I no longer eat at McD's
Torirock10 [OP] -12 points 10m ago
😟 but like also in a way u can expect nastay from mcdonald’s. it kinda sucks to get it at starbucks
Lightheaded_gamer 2 points 10m ago
Legit if I touch money I’d do a twirl to the sink whenever I have to handle food or drink. I can’t touch sanitizer so much because of my hands but I am gonna be cleaned the old fashion way!
barkingbarista 70 points 10m ago
As a Shift supervisor that started out at 16, and now 19, it is really hard to lead when the baristas just don’t care. Like I get the whole
“Fuck this job, I hate it here, let’s just leave”
But we still have a job to do and we are getting paid some good money to do so. The bare minimum isn’t even done anymore. It’s really hard
canidieyet_ 9 points 10m ago
EXACTLY
WingsofFlight 5 points 10m ago
THIS
HiiAlberta 2 points 10m ago
What to you is the bare minimum? Like I want to do the best job, but there are several things that are often disused so im curious to know what you think?
barkingbarista 4 points 10m ago
The bare minimum to me is making drinks by standard, cleaning task and just keeping busy. I will find my baristas on their phone at the drive thru. I give them a task, because they just waste time standing there. I just want to be able to do my task as a shift, and not babysit my baristas. Obviously if they need guidance I’m there, or if they are slammed in the front, I just want to be able to get home on time
HiiAlberta 6 points 10m ago
Fair enough, my job is to try and make the shifts live as easy as possible so typically I try to go out of my way for tasks that need to get done, try and help out everywhere. I also will ask if anything else needs to be done. Im not on my phone too often
barkingbarista 2 points 10m ago
Go ahead and transfer to my store please 😭 The last thing on my mind is customer connections. Obviously if we have all those three things in check, I just ask my baristas to ask for customers names and make small chit chat. “How are ya today?” and just nod their head.
GayCrimeDuck 1 points 10m ago
We get paid minimum wage, it’s not good money. A living wage in my area is $35, not 15.
ashley0927 27 points 10m ago
I think it’s funny when people at my store want to get paid more but never do their job correctly. I’m like you want to get paid more when you mess up now? Right….
miitopia_emblem 23 points 10m ago
I hear you and agree with most of it. But if I can’t have my phone out, I’m going to wear my watch. Too many shifts won’t keep track of breaks/lunches being ran, and I’ll be damned before I work 6-7 hours straight with no respite.

Also, it’s not like my watch is going to fall into somebody’s drink. Nail polish might, sure. But not a wristwatch lmao
Have_Donut 11 points 10m ago
I agree with the Watch. We are not involved in direct food prep so we should not have our hands, gloved or otherwise, in stuff in any way.

If someone’s watch is getting into someone’s food or drink, the watch is the least of my concern at that point since their whole hand is already in there.

I wear a divers watch with a moving bezel and chronograph so the extra functionality of having a timer and stopwatch on me is really nice, plus I can hit it with the sprayer and it is fine.
th3_thing 6 points 10m ago
As an avid watch lover, if you wear one with a strap, you can just put the watch on your apron. I love doing it that way, it makes dating things easy easier since I wear a G Shock with the day, date and month in addition to the time ofc

Edit: Grammer
croissantboyy 4 points 10m ago
most of the people who wear watches at my store will put the watch on the neck of their apron so it's not on their wrist lol. some people just wear it normally tho too
Angelalmanzar21 1 points 10m ago
i have an apple watch so imma keep it on for my calorie count sorry not sorry
mylegalusername 3 points 10m ago
You’re allowed to use your phone for timers, time, and date, along with checking information from the Starbucks app/website.
(It’s in the handbook.)
Torirock10 [OP] 1 points 10m ago
yeah some stores r crazy abt phones and it’s stupid. i’m p sure if u wear a watch or bracelet u jus have to like make sure to wash all up on ur arms when u wash ur hands. maybe try to put the watch in ur pocket or smth idk 💀
Calm_Preference6209 22 points 10m ago
Some weirdos in this bih 😭 can’t forget the mf who held a dead fly over someone’s head and complained that they got fired 😭😭
secretbox-22 3 points 10m ago
deadass 😭😭😭
Jhinterested 16 points 10m ago
Soooo true. I worked for Starbucks for 7 years and it was so exhausting taking pride in my job and making things correct and doing things the way they’re supposed to be done, meanwhile watching coworkers half ass and inconsistently make customer’s drinks poorly and not care at all about it. Now as a customer I can totally taste the inconsistency. It sucks spending 5 dollars on an iced coffee that is watered down because they brew it on top of the ice instead of adding the ice after it’s brewed. But then there’s that part of me that doesn’t want to complain because I know that baristas get treated poorly on a daily basis but it’s just become a poor company at this point.
diarrheajar 3 points 10m ago
I feel the inconsistency, I make my own drinks absolutely standard, but when I order it off the clock, it tastes different for every single barista who makes it and I never understand
heyitsmaria24 16 points 10m ago
Sometimes I’ll get on bar and a few baristas will leave a huge mess. I remember there was a huge pool of mocha and milk. I had to take the time to clean up after them :,) My supervisor always tells me it’s not my responsibility and I should tell them to clean after themselves because what they are doing is unfair to me. I just hate confrontation. 😭 She told me I could say “ (enter supervisor name) said you have to clean after yourself” if it helped.
Cust_service_voice 4 points 10m ago
Why….doesn’t the supervisor say something then??
heyitsmaria24 4 points 10m ago
She does. However, not a lot of people listen to her or they do it for a while and then never again.
SatanicPisces 16 points 10m ago
i’ve worked at tim horton’s, taco bell, and cane’s and they were all MUCH more strict about dress code and jewelry and for example at taco bell we had to wear hair nets and a hat or visor every day. starbucks has the LEAST strict dress code i’ve EVER worked. don’t get me wrong, starbucks could do better in a lot of other aspects. but dress code isn’t one of them in my opinion. i mean, we don’t even have uniforms!!! we get to wear our own clothes and beanies !!!?!? that’s incredible to me. as far as not shaking drinks, if it’s like a tea with no sweetener and no water, i don’t always shake it. but that’s about the only time. if it’s a water base refresher, i’ll shake it 5 times instead of 10.
hecaete47 17 points 10m ago
I mean I think you're forgetting the point of shaking- not only to combine ingredients, but also to get it cold. The tea bases are sitting out for a while- they're not chilled in the fridge. Shaking helps to get the drinks nice and cold with the ice. And like, quality is important. Imagine you had a long day, it's 100+ degrees outside, and you know Starbucks has these shaken teas that are super cold, expensive but a good treat after a hard day- you get one & it's barely cold because it wasn't shaken. That would suck.
SatanicPisces 5 points 10m ago
that’s true!! i always make them in the shaker and sometimes pour from the skater into the cup, back into the shaker and into the cup again. but i see your point and i SHOULD shake them every time.
KJ2998SJ 13 points 10m ago
I agree with most of that. Like, the actually shaking drinks and making them to standard, it irks me when other baristas don't bother to. Or touching food with their bare hands 🤢

I just can't find it in myself though to disagree with people who wear watches or nailpolish/fake nails. I don't personally because I'd rather not take the risk of getting in trouble, but it's a stupid rule. I know it's "against health code" but really, I can't possibly fathom how that has anything to do with a health code. Our fingers aren't in the food and drinks so why does it matter.
Torirock10 [OP] 20 points 10m ago
acrylics hold so many dirty nasty ass germs bro…….. and so do watches and bracelets. and nail polish can chip off into stuff
KJ2998SJ 2 points 10m ago
But the nails and watches aren't touching the food and drinks. I also would like to point out the statistics on what the FDA's guidelines are for health regulations when it comes to food manufacturing and what is referred to as "filth" (bug bits, rodent feces, etc.) And there is a specified amount of "filth" allowed in food products (it's different depending on the item) So the potential tiny flake of nailpolish that has a tiny chance of possibly ending up in food or drink is negligible
Torirock10 [OP] 7 points 10m ago
it’s just better to be safe than sorry and i’m sure someone wouldn’t want fucking nail polish in their drink
uzami123 14 points 10m ago
You should also keep in mind that most coffee shops do not have this rule for the nail polish.
KJ2998SJ 8 points 10m ago
No they wouldn't. I'm sure. But a customer also wouldn't want hair in their drink, and unless it's mandatory that we shave our heads too, then that's a possibility.

It's a dumb rule because if Starbucks wanted to, they could say nailpolish/artificial nail coverings must be covered by gloves. But instead they just say it's not allowed. Nail polish isn't an issue at 99% of places that serve food and drink as long as the proper routines and precautions are followed.
dirtychai0218 9 points 10m ago
no fr they all talk about not making things the standard way because their manager enforces fast dt times but how come my store has low times AND everything is made to standard??? 🧐
Torirock10 [OP] 0 points 10m ago
yeah like sorry ur lazy
dirtychai0218 6 points 10m ago
“shaking the refreshers doesn’t make a difference” ok drink an unshaken refresher and tell me it’s not warm af
cats_with_tentacles 5 points 10m ago
Its not just the temperature, the inclusions really do change the taste. We tasted shaken/unshaked refreshers during our pod training not long ago and I was lowkey shocked by the difference
dirtychai0218 3 points 10m ago
that i didnt know, i hate the texture of soft fruit so i’ve never had a refresher with inclusions so i could not tell you the taste lol
vareenoo 8 points 10m ago
Yuppp this is why we all got trained. I get batch blending etc, but genuine harmful things is just not ok. Also the amt of times I’ve had to remake a now angry customer’s refresher/shaken drink bc a barista didn’t shake it so it tastes bad is astounding.
wavvyhag 8 points 10m ago
“if you don’t care why should you get paid more” is such a bad faith argument because obviously the vast majority of people would care more if they were paid more. that’s the whole point

edit: dumbfounded by these downvotes. this is literally so general and true for any paid position in any field
Torirock10 [OP] 10 points 10m ago
Ppl literally walk in not giving af. they bitch and whine if a customer wants non dairy milk or wants to add one extra thing to their drink. and it’s just laziness bruh. they don’t even care to do their job correctly
wavvyhag 17 points 10m ago
this is sounding like something very personal to your store bc i’ve never heard anyone complain about steaming oat milk instead of 2%. generally most people who are overworked and underpaid aren’t gonna give a shit and no matter how much i’m downvoted that’s just the reality of capitalism 🤷‍♀️ calling them lazy and implying they don’t deserve a living wage does nothing for anyone except howard shultz and co.
Torirock10 [OP] 3 points 10m ago
idk just any customizations at all tbh make ppl complain
Intelligent-Hunt-906 2 points 10m ago
Like they mentioned this sounds like a targeted / personal audience of your store or town because I’ve never heard of anyone complain of switching the milks up as they mentioned 💀
dreadheada 11 points 10m ago
I understand where your coming from but for some people it’s just a job they need to do. For whatever those reasons may be. They really shouldn’t be whining as frequently as you make it sound like they are. If your co workers really are that way take it up with someone & try your best to fix the environment you work in. But you also have to remember not everyone cares as much as you might, starbucks for a lot of people is simply, just a job. Or a way to pay for school. Yeah it would be nice if everyone could put a little bit of effort into what their doing but that will never be the case. Best you can do is try not to bothered by it. Will give you a lot of peace of mind.
Intelligent-Hunt-906 2 points 10m ago
Best comment summed up!
dreadheada 3 points 10m ago
I appreciate that! :)
Torirock10 [OP] 2 points 10m ago

Necessary_Low939 6 points 10m ago
Yes and when u call them out on it they say ure rude etc like ok
an_anenome 4 points 10m ago
I work at an independent coffee place and we are allowed acrylics, bracelets, jewelry etc. and we get perfect scores from the health inspector. I personally think the policies at Starbucks are too strict on that front, the other stuff I agree with tho
Mea-fae_Owl73 4 points 10m ago
Thank you for this! As a very seasoned partner I was seriously worried if Starbucks could survive the people it had been hiring the past couple of years. In my own store I see a few of these types and I try to instill some ownership and pride if not the basic you are being paid to do this job. Your post and the majority of the comments I have read give me hope.
princeofliars 3 points 10m ago
no forreal people will be like “i’m gonna act my wage” ok then do the bare minimum of your job and make the drinks correctly?? or don’t commit health code violations??!!
goddessofwaterpolo 3 points 10m ago
Yeah baristas can be really entitled to their shitty behavior or breaking of health code because the job is difficult which isn’t an excuse to be bad at it
elainafromthemoon 3 points 10m ago
starbucks is so toxic. i feel the majority of people that work here either don’t care at all about this job or it’s almost cult like on the other end of the spectrum. luckily i work with fairly normal people right now.
LavalampClock 3 points 10m ago
to play a bit of devil's advocate here (not saying anything to health code violations, don't mess with people's safety), we make often times north of 20 dollars of profit for the company in as little as 1-3 minutes and only make 15/hour. so i'm not gonna say shit about taking shortcuts here or there. using the wrong ingredients is kinda crappy, but like as long as the drink tastes the same and looks the same why care?
gabbysafari 3 points 10m ago
at this one store by my house, the baristas are ALWAYS wearing acrylic nails and it drives me insane. not only is is nasty, but my manager would send us home the instant he caught us with fake nails, we couldn’t even wear gloves over them… (we did keep a bottle of nail polish remover in the back for normally painted nails tho)
overturned23 2 points 10m ago
don’t get me wrong i can’t stand those people on tiktok that are like “baristas complain too much” but i also can’t stand when baristas are like “ugghhhhhh somebody MADE me put 4 pumps of raspberry in their strawberry açaí 🙄🙄 why do customers have to be so difficult 🙄🙄”
Lightheaded_gamer 2 points 10m ago
I’ve covered for stores in the past with baristas like this and it’s usually because of the atmosphere unfortunately. Look at the interaction with their shifts and SM. Look at how they coordinate with one another during a rush (9/10 it’s a disaster). Anything that looks like that is not working makes these baristas stop caring.
Bluebilledduck 2 points 10m ago
From all the commenst ive read it sounds like some of the people you work with are lazy but my coworkers are great. Idgaf if theyre wearing a smartwatch since we cant have phones too check for dates or important messages. And when our store doesnt take shortcuts of any kind our times are usually hella long, but we are one of the busiest stores in our state (im just telling you what pur DM said).
Torirock10 [OP] 1 points 10m ago
nah my coworkers r great it’s jus a lot of ppl i read abt on here
Bluebilledduck 0 points 10m ago
I dont see that many people on here complaining about such minor thins, but if they are id assume theyve been having a rough time- something I think we all can understand. I do my best not to cut corners often but every once in a while i have a rough days or a particular customer gets under my skin and I struggle not to be mad about petty things 🤷‍♀️
rudebii 2 points 10m ago
fish rots from the head down.

why aren't they getting coached over their acrylic nails or other dress code violations? Why aren't they being retrained on drink SOP when seen not making them to standard? Why aren't they coached on attitude?

Not everyone has the same work ethic and it's up to store managers to find the right people as well as cut anyone that isn't up to expectations. Leads are responsible for making sure standards are being met on their shift and work with management on having the right staff.

Management is also responsible for proper and on-going training. Trainers are responsible for setting up staff for success and keep the staff up-to-date on new recipes, etc.

Corporate is responsible for making sure all that happens on the store level.

Basically, the reason you're seeing partners like that is because starbucks is operationally a hot mess right now. Good staff leave bad stores because they don't want to be carrying all that dead wood. Only people left are indifferent or new and it's like a riptide, that store will be bad until the DM cleans house.
Torirock10 [OP] 1 points 10m ago

I'm not with Starbucks anymore but I feel bad cos I was one of those partners in some ways, like I made sure to take off jewelry and such and would use the right milk, but I would just swirl refreshers in the cup instead of shaking them or halfass some drinks. I know it's not an excuse really, but I had some not so great SSVs, two of which got fired after HR was called on them for hateful comments against minorities (including myself!) and they used to leave the store for over an hour and leave me on my own, then get after me if the times were high or I had a line lol. I wanna have my own coffee shop someday and I'm gonna make sure to focus a lot on quality, even at the cost of speed, cos I do love making drinks and I wanna make them right.
Torirock10 [OP] 2 points 10m ago
yeah it does suck cuz a lot of SMs and SSVs are like rlly shitty. but idk i guess this post is mostly abt ppl who know the correct way but still
choose to make it wrong
Angelalmanzar21 0 points 10m ago
i will keep my watch on idgaf starbucks wont stop me from knowing my daily calorie burn

Starbucks company reaps what they sow? People of this generation will work at the pace they are paid and act accordingly as they are treated, ever store varies but you don’t know what that person has been through at the hands of Starbucks

l0vely_poopface 6 points 10m ago
OP's not asking anyone to work extra hard, just for people to not complain about following directions and training for the job they signed up for.
Torirock10 [OP] 6 points 10m ago
i agree we should be paid more and treated better but the ppl im talking abt don’t even bust their ass. they sit around talking all day instead of cleaning, are too lazy to put non dairy milk in a drink, and complain when someone adds like one extra thing to their drink
smoolbeean -4 points 10m ago
i used to work at a high volume drive thru and i will say not shaking the refreshers is not lazy when you get like 12 of them in a five min period
Torirock10 [OP] 3 points 10m ago
but it’s nastayyy😢
smoolbeean 2 points 10m ago
i guess. i dont work at a high volume store anymore because all the managers care about is drive times im now at a cafe store. much more chill vibe and im respected more for my time
Torirock10 [OP] 1 points 10m ago
yeah i’m at a drive it forward store and we worry abt times but idk it’s mostly the SM and i barely work with him so idk what it’s rly like
caligirlthrowaway104 2 points 10m ago
It’s literally the standard. Not shaking them is lazy. It barely takes anymore time to shake them
CommanderWar64 -3 points 10m ago
Eh you don’t have to shake most of the drinks. Pink drinks sure, but even the shaken espressos taste just as good stirred/swirled around.
Torirock10 [OP] 3 points 10m ago
there is a very noticeable difference between a shaken and unshaken refresher
CommanderWar64 -3 points 10m ago
There really isn’t, we literally did a taste test of this at my store and people preferred not lol
Torirock10 [OP] 2 points 10m ago
it doesn’t matter what ur team prefers lmao. there’s a difference and it’s not standard. it helps make the drink cold and it’s especially important for pink drinks so they don’t separate and get nasty
CommanderWar64 -2 points 10m ago
I did say Pink drinks get shaken
caligirlthrowaway104 2 points 10m ago

first of all, i didn’t make the post lol. second of all, you can struggle and know basic food handling and the standards of your *job.* and you can be privileged and not know those standards. your place in life has nothing to do with this post. completely asinine and nonsensical comment.

Oh baby you do not get paid enough to care this much
SavannaHeat 20 points 10m ago
Nah bruh that’s a gross mentality. This is people’s health we’re talking about. If you don’t care about that even a little bit, you should not be in food service.

The person you're responding to is still arguing in another thread that they're right for making all of their iced london fogs with black iced tea instead of steeping the earl grey so I'm assuming there's a lot of standards they don't care about :/

I’m moreso talking about the drink prep gripes not the food safety stuff
Number1Barooista 7 points 10m ago
I don't think OSHA would agree with that statement

I feel this bruh

okay i’ll admit to being guilty to the london fog being made with black iced tea one. i never ever do this unless i’m solo barring and busy. i’ve only done it *maybe* 3 or 4 times at most. but otherwise, i steep the earl grey bags
Torirock10 [OP] 6 points 10m ago
bro just steep them who careeess there’s a very big difference
canidieyet_ 2 points 10m ago
..like i said, literally the only time i’ve done it is when we’ve been so short staffed and i’m drowning on solo bar lol. when i’ve got a line wrapped around the building and 20 people in cafe, there’s no way i’m going to remember a tea bag in 5 minutes (& it’s not like i can rely on a coworker to alert me bc in that scenario they’re also doing 3-4 things because it’s a 2-3 person play 💀)

I set a 5 min timer and set it on top of the cup I’m brewing the tea in!
Torirock10 [OP] 2 points 10m ago
i mean you could set a timer on ur phone rq. and it would give u 5 mins to catch up on other drinks ig 😭 but i understand
canidieyet_ 2 points 10m ago
i don’t keep my phone with me on the floor, i’ve cracked my screen twice bc it fell out of my pocket
