Unions make sure a company follows labor laws, Starbucks famously breaks labor laws all over the world

Honestly I didn’t know a lot about unions until I did my due diligence and deep dived it. This wanting to part of a union is completely ridiculous. These unions are not non profit and are a business. They are trying to infiltrate the company because they’ll make a shit ton of money… It kinda pissed me off because this is such an amazing company that ALREADY offers amazing benefits and are doing things to help the world be a better place. The unions will charge you 2-3% of your net wages (dues) to be a “representative” for negotiations for things they can’t promise and Starbucks doesn’t have to agree to in a contract. One of the original buffalo stores to try to unionize is already started the process to get rid of the unions…. I don’t think partners that are pro-Starbucks-unions have done their homework and know what it’s all about. It’s sad that all these partners are getting duped by these unions that have a great ad campaign. The truth is that one of the original stores to unionize has a barista that was paid 70k a year to get them all on board. I’m all about unions where it’s necessary like for nurses or warehouses where your legit safety is an issue but it’s not necessary at Starbucks. I’m a 12 year partner and have been watching and following for the start. In the beginning they weren’t wrong with everything that was a concern but Starbucks really listened and have taken steps to make us safer and have been working towards make our stores safer. Makes me sick that these unions are trying to infect our culture and steal millions if not billions from all the partners who choose to unionize.

They replied to me but instantly deleted it I think. Talking about how unions are only out for our money. I don’t think they know how labor unions work.

Starbucks is famous for not taking care of its workers. I started a month ago and have had days of wages stolen because my manager rounds down my punch-ins and punch-outs. The company policy towards abusive customers is to give them free shit which rewards them for being dicks. The pay is too low to live on.
