Hey y’all, looking for some advice. I’ve been on time off for 3ish weeks and found out that a shift has been undermining me to newer baristas for a while. Context: I am basically the sole trainer at our store, I have 6+ years of coffee experience, I’ve been at my store for just under 2 yrs, etc — also, I’m a BARISTA, this partner is a SHIFT. What happened this particular time is that the SSV was questioning a newer partner about blending CF on 4/why they were doing it that way, and the barista said “that’s how M*****a taught me to do it” (my manager trained me and that’s what she told me to do btw) and the SSV responded “Well M*****a doesn’t know anything.” Y’all I found this out and was LIVID — and this isn’t the first time they’ve said something along the same line to other new partners. I know that I know what I’m doing, but the DISRESPECT to undermine me to someone I’ve trained? WHEN YOURE A SHIFT AND IM A BARISTA?! I’m about to confront the SSV directly when I get back. This person has said racist, transphobic, misogynistic things so many times, and has been formally reported for all of those, and nothing has been done. My manager never does anything about any complaints against them, and honestly this one isn’t even bad in comparison — it’s just the principle. You don’t get to be in a position of power and talk shit about baristas to other baristas, I’m not standing for it — especially when THEY are the one that’s bad at their job. Basically I’m wondering what you guys would do if you were in my situation because I’m ready to square up with him at this point.
