So I found a roach at my job. Should I be worried?()

One means there are more. Make sure facilities gets it called in so an exterminator can come to your store and put bait down. They’ll also put poison in the sink drains to help break up any yummy snacks lurking in the pipes.
From experience: if your store shares a building with any other food place, nothing you do will keep them out completely. My store was a downtown cafe in an ancient mall/office tower with multiple nasty restaurants on the floor below. In an old city. We had all manner of nasty visitors.

I would let the chipotle know too as someone who works at chipotle lol. they’re a food service place too and if y’all are connected, you both share all the same problems. i would let our neighbors know to keep an eye out if I saw roaches or mice or anything else to worry about

Glad to know my store isn't the only one sharing space with a Chipotle. We don't usually have roaches and they definitely come from them. However, where I am it all used to be swampland and the critters haven't forgotten. No matter where (apartment, home, business) we get roaches.

Mines next door to an Liquor store and then Which Which is on the other side. 😭💀

Lolol I’ve seen at least 35 roaches in my store we’ve fumigated twice and keep it very clean but they’re impossible to get rid of. And yeah we’re connected to two other food places.

A tangent but I saw a TikTok earlier today and a customer recorded a roach climbing on a steam wand. I can’t remember for sure but I don’t think the barista noticed. 🤢
Victoriamarie036 points10m ago
I saw one the other day where they just wiped it off the steam wand😂😂

It might’ve been the same video. So gross.

They can hitchhike off of boxes from deliveries.

tell your sm so they can report it. every sighting needs to be reported to the health department. we’ve had several spotted.
Sammiche4 points10m ago
I'd mention it, but at the same time I wouldn't be super concerned. Yet.
I know there are roaches outside even if I rarely see them. One roach inside, especially if I know for a fact that we're thorough with cleaning, could just be one that slipped in while one of the doors was open.
At this point, I'd make sure the shift is aware I saw a roach (even if I killed it or shooed it out) and make a mental note to be on the lookout for more.
If I see a SECOND roach within a week or two? THEN I'm concerned.

Like others said, tell your SM and they’ll contact facilities but they also need to talk to the SM at chipotle or it will just be a constant cycle. They’re hard to get rid of but if your SM and chipotle’s SM work together it should help rid the problem but it will take a long time.
If I ever saw a roach in my store I would immediately ask for a transfer, I can’t stand bugs, once lived with someone who had bed bugs and didn’t know until it was really bad and got very lucky when I moved, that I didn’t bring any with me. I have a huge fear of this. That’s just me tho

Our store has rats

in the city i live in pretty much every food related building is gonna have roaches to a small degree
it's just a part of being in dense cities
iforgotmyprevlog2 points10m ago
Yes but it doesn’t mean there’s an infestation or something really bad automatically. There’s numerous reasons why and how a single bug can get in any building but management should treat it like there is a problem just in case. They should be putting in a ticket for pest control to make a visit
Urmomscoochiehairs2 points10m ago
I’ve lived with horrible conditions before you should tell the sm and the ssv
Muted_Obligation45011 points10m ago
Depending on where you live it can be normal, places like Florida certain roaches/palmetto bugs are kinda expected. I’ve seen maybe two within the last 2 years and each time the ssv made sure to tell the sm so the store can be inspected and treated. It’s best to be safe than sorry. Up north though roaches aren’t as prevalent unless food is being left out for them.

Most fast food chains have some type of pest service that does routine maintenance. Like EcoLab. Have your meanager contact them so they can come spray and put out traps.
iSpeakMeme1 points10m ago
There's also a pretty good chance it came in with your deliveries. They really like to live in cardboard and sometimes come in with the boxes.

we usually call a exterminator, we had centipedes a few weeks ago
