Yesterday a lady asked me for The Pepa Pig Drink. I'm 100% serious. *She* was 100% serious.

My thing about TikTok drinks are they expect us to know what these drinks are with very little description and the amount of times people want drinks remade or refunded because it doesn’t “look” right

maybe i’m lucky but at my store it’s few and far between with the tiktok drinks. the only recent one i can think of that was annoying was someone asking for a mermaid frappuccino

i don’t really mind making tik tok drinks so long as the customer is able to describe it to me/show me a sticker for it. plus i think making new drinks is fun because then I can also try it in a sample cup

There used to be a woman who would come in my store with her three kids and a LITERAL BINDER full of printed recipes that they found off tiktok or Pinterest. She would sit there and name off all of this stuff we didn’t have, or it would be the recipe to the Crystal Ball Frappuccino like 2 years after we quit making it and she’d be telling us the whole process of how to make it like we still had all the stuff. 💀

If i ever encounter a customer telling me they want a drink by its dumb tik tok name and after i tell them we dont have those drinks and if they say "tik tok says u have them", then i would be like "its not in our training to study on drinks made up on social media"...lmso do they really think we would remember all that shit with what we have to go thru daily? Thats why i saw somebody today say on this subreddit that if every customer had to work at starbucks for a day or for a little, maybe they would act right. I cant stand when people ask for made up drinks by their made up names. They should instead be like "hello i saw a drink recipe on tik tok called *whatever the name is* and i was wondering if u guys have these ingredients to make them?" Abd then they should show the ingredients/recipe list or speak it out to the barista

i don’t really care about tiktok drinks, but don’t cop an attitude with me because u somehow don’t know how to read ingredients and tell me smth different/leave something out so it doesn’t come out looking/tasting how you wanted it to.

i’m also tired of partners making up drinks and not sharing the ingredients too, because they’re more likely to become viral and customers are just shoving a video in my face and i have to either figure out how to ring it up or read the sticker and figure out what it’s supposed to look like

I hate when people think we have a secret menu. What would be the point of hiding options from you? When you tell them the drink doesn’t exist they shove their phone in your face so you can type in the customizations. Smh 🤦‍♂️

Someone asked me for a Naruto drink a few weeks ago. Turns out, it was a pineapple refresher with strawberry base, topped with cold foam. Absolutely horrendous.

Edit because I wanted to add more examples of wretched drinks: I don't trust anyone who gets their stuff topped with passion tea. Someone one got a kiwi starfruit refresher with the other refresher bases + coconut milk and a buttload of syrups topped with passion tea-- tasted like battery acid. The other one I had recently was a passion tea with soy milk instead of water, with toffee nut and vanilla. Both were vile for different reasons.

I've found that people who do have the recipe normally order with the recipe, and people without a recipe normally order by name. Most of the time, they won't have the recipe and they'll order something else. If they give the recipe and it's completely unreasonably complicated, you already paved the way to saying that you're out of something or that's not something you're allowed to do (like if they want a cake pop blended in a frap or some bullshit).

It's basically like saying, "you can try, but be prepared for me to deny you." but in customer service voice.

You can also explain that a LOT of social media drinks are super outdated and made with long-since discontinued ingredients, or they're made in ways that go against Starbucks protocol (especially when it comes to food safety and cross contamination standards)

usually i ask them for the recipe but i'm at the point where, if someone comes in asking for a drink with a name like "sunset frap" i just say "we don't have that." i just can't do it anymore tbh

Someone asked for a strawberry cheesecake frappuchino and I said I didnt have that just strawberries and cream. She goes "you dont know that recipe? Really? What do you guys know?"

I don't mind making them if they have the recipe and we have the ingredients for it! Especially because those drinks are like $7+ and that's labor added!!

There’s this lady that comes through the drive through and just says (at the box) “my order is really complicated, so I’m just gonna come up to the window.” She pulls up and HAND US HER PHONE so we can just watch the entire tik toks (she always gets more than one) and it literally put the drive through 20 minutes behind last time. someone asked me for a luffy drink without a recipe and she stood there on her phone looking for the video with a line behind her and she wouldn’t move- when she found it she wanted me to write it down in case anyone else ordered it

I don’t mind making them at all, as long as they have the recipe. It bothers me a lot when people get mad at me for not knowing literally every TikTok drink. Take a picture of the sticker. If you know what you’re asking for and can explain it to me, then I’ll make you $9 grande frappe anytime

yesterday someone tried to order a cold milk with "shaken matcha" on top and I had to explain to her like. there's no way for me to ring that up the way you want me to. it would be an iced matcha latte. I cannot even make it the way you want me to because it would be powdery ice on top of milk?? what is the logic here?? When I used to work I hated those freaking drinks, but corporate loves it since it increases sales. If it's not ringing up items separately to get stars quicker it's those stupid ass drinks when you trying to get the line down there that is out the door

I opened a new store in a small college town. I think at least half of our orders were some kind of tik tok drink those first few months. Still way too many.
