I was told that putting cold foam in hot drinks will make the milk curdle, and to warn the customers of this if they order it, which I did, but then when I explain this to a customer (not saying they can’t order it, just warning them it might make the milk curdle) I get in trouble and they say it will just melt but to allow them to order it if they want it. what’s the policy on this? will it actually make the milk curdle?

People will drink iced passion teas with heavy cream in them and watch it curdle in real time. I don't think the company cares as long as we're food safe (non expired product, etc) in that regard. And it will just melt. It's no different from having whip on a hot chocolate.

No it will not curdle it’s no different than putting whip on a hot drink

Curdle or not I think it just dissolves very fast. So no point. I’ll just rather add some sweet cream instead

How would it curdle
CBukowski80810 points10m ago
Whoever told you that is wrong. There has been no official policy stating you must tell the customer that it will curdle because it won’t. It’s almost like putting whip cream on a hot drink.

I don’t think there’s any science to support that

I remember one time in this sub, someone posted a pic of a hot drink with whipped cream and one with cold foam. In just a few minutes the whip was melted but the cold foam stayed in tact for a really long time. It made me view the cold foam on hot drinks differently tbh
Nah, its like whipped cream, but it actually sits there way longer than whipped cream. I did it all the time at home for my husband, every sip had foam and was a great substitute for cream.

we have some regulars at our store that like to ask us to put ice in their hot coffees/lattes to cool it off a little before they drink it. we have a asm that if they hear this they tell us we aren’t allowed to do it. something about how it “shocks” the coffee/milk and ruins the flavor??
NeoFaber3 points10m ago
usually the milk should not curdle just because you put it in hot drinks, but drinks with refresha bases, lemonade or teas can make the milk curdle, as well as roasts with high acidity. If you see any curdles in normal coffee based drinks it could also be that the milk is old.

I was told it creates bacteria 😭

It doesn’t curdle just melts really fast. Tell them it’s like over a dollar to add it and will taste no different than whipped cream to them
