I know I saw this scenario on tiktok, but I can’t believe it happened to my SM today. She was at cash, a guy comes in to order his tall latte and proceeds to give us US dollars..which we normally accept but we’d give the change as Canadian dollars.
He proceeds to get annoyed and doesn’t understand why we’d do that since he’s paying with USD and he expects the same currency as change.
Him: “How am I supposed to buy things if you can’t give me the change i want?”
SM: “Unfortunately, we only have Canadian dollars..because we are in Canada and you can always change your money in a currency exchange or you can use a credit card..”
Him: “But I am paying with US dollars.”
It continued on like that for a bit until he caved in and my manger gave him his change which was .25 cents.

About 10 years ago, this guy orders and proceeds to pay with Canadian money. I told him I can’t accept that. He asked me why. I said, “because this is Las Vegas.”

I sent that and kinda realized after that you might have the option to do it on the computer. In the US we do technically have the option presented to us to include CAD in the deposits. I can’t remember for sure if there’s anything on the tills that would let us do it but I definitely want to say no. In any case I wouldn’t accept any foreign currency that was handed to me on principle.

We have the option too, and I'm about 3 hours from the boarder.juzt a seperate pos button for it. But it tells you how much CAD to give back. Lol why would he even think we carry Canadian and American change 🤦♀️ "would you like that in CAD or USD", yea no, don't get paid enough

The US register has the option of taking Canadian dollars but I thought or probably stupidity assumed you use the correct currency for the country you're in. Unless you're in an airport -- things get confusing there
