So, high volume DT store, mobile ordering, three delivery streams.
Our SM has handed their notice in and for a long time now the store has been a riot. She had clearly lost Interest in the job, but has never been that great a manager anyway.
We have 3 and a half shift supervisors (myself included) and after a talk with our DM he couldn't believe it. We are the highest earning store in the district and the one after us has seven supervisors!
There is no structured training regime and many baristas have become disruptive employees. The supervisors can't get it under control because the sm does not back us up.
The SM also never does their contracted hours which for us is 40 hrs/week minimum. They do not clock in or out to try and cover their tracks and I have never seen them do their full shift for a very long time.
To add to it all they are now waging war on us and has said behind my back they are going to make the next 4 weeks a nightmare for me because I sat down with the DM when he did a store check to ask him for support because we are so stressed and exhausted. He seemed really sympathetic and was genuinely surprised at the state of the place. Equally he was impressed at how we are managing to run the shop to the standard we are with next to no supervisors.
The SM seems to think we are all throwing her under the bus or slagging her off etc but none of the conversations have gone that way. (I've had every opertunity to do that) The DM is simply trying to understand what's going on so they aren't handing to store over to someone new when it's it tatters.
The only thing I can think of for why they are reacting this way is because they know they've been doing running the shop into the ground and it's about yo blow up in their face.
Sorry long read but I've been stressing big time
