Schedule and Frustrating SM (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by JewelerOutrageous
I started working at a Starbucks down the road from me for extra money on the side while I work another job and do school. When I first started I gave the SM a schedule that was full of availability, but mentioned to her that I had school coming up and gave her the schedule for once that came (I began at the end of July). I quickly realized that waking up early during the weekend wasn’t going to work because I usually wouldn’t get out of work until midnight from my other job those days. When I explained this to her and my concern with how my performance for the team wouldn’t be good those mornings, she practically mocked me in person for saying “that I was worried about the team”. This same SM has left her store understaffed, rarely shows up and has expressed no worry for the stress that she puts her shift leaders in. I sent her a revised availability THREE WEEKS AGO, and she just sent me a picture of her changing my availability just now with completely incorrect times and days. She’s being moved to a different store tomorrow so I texted her that I will simply talk to the new SM. I’m just so frustrated at this point because I like this job but she has made it so difficult for me to show up or have to call out because she couldn’t ever seem to understand my schedule, even after multiple times of trying to communicate with her.

It would probably be easier to change your availability yourself on partner hours

I tried doing so but the SM said she couldn’t do it for some reason? Im starting to think she just doesn’t really know how to do a lot of things

I’m confused. Do you work at a corporate store? You just to put in an availability request on partner hours and all your sm needs to do is approve it. They shouldn’t have to revise it for you.

Yes, that’s what I did but she kept saying she couldn’t approve it? I submitted it again double checking everything and she said she still couldn’t. She finally fixed it the other day after three weeks of having to find cover for days I told her I couldn’t work.
