I love them because most of the time people who order them aren't to picky, so I try to give them things I'd normally make for myself. It makes me feel happy to serve something cool I came up with. HOWEVER, I usually try to only surprise them with complicated stuff if I'm the one making the drink, or if business isnt too crazy. I don't wanna make person on bar stressed with something too crazy if they're already busy.

hate them. like do you have a buget? what flavors do you like? did you want a coffee, frap, refresher, tea, hot/iced etc? do you have allergies? what if i give them a drink theyve had before? all my favorite custom drinks are $8+ cus i dont pay for them and i feel bad charging them that much with no warning. maybe its just my autism but the completely open ended prompt is just not it for me. like no, you be creative and make a fun drink. i buckle under that request every time and i hate it.

and i saw another person mention it, but i dont wanna put a crazy customization like that on the person on dt bar during a rush. its enough work with menu item orders, then you throw some 10 line monstrosity of a ticket at them, nuh uh no thanks

I like it too because I work at a kiosk so I take the order and make the drinks. I have one go-to for each drink category (frappucino, cold, hot) which helps me choose! If someone describes a general flavor profile, I think that’s fun too.

i have a regular who gets a total surprise me drink. as in, he won't even tell me what size he wants. surprise, its a venti today!

its a fascinating mindset tbh.
