Starting Job as a Barista (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by AnAnimeCrepe
I just got a job at Starbucks as a 16 year old senior high school student and looking for good tips and advice from others on this subreddit.

It’s a very steep learning curve but everyone’s been there that’s on the floor. Don’t be afraid to ask questions!

hey! i’m two months in at starbs myself, my biggest advice is to listen and connect with your partners especially ones who want to help you with learning all the drinks and whatnot. also, store resources on the ipad is a LIFESAVER i cannot sweat it enough whether you don’t remember a certain drink or don’t recall how to make cold brew it’s got a ton of different files you can click on that gives you all the info you need! and since you’re still in hs, please don’t overwork yourself, make sure to balance work and school the best you can! :)

There are people who pick up on the job instantly and others who take time to grasp it and feel comfortable. Ask questions, no matter how long you’ve been there you can ask questions and it’s honestly not as serious as you’d think. If you’re struggling when you’re out of training, it’s okay to say “hey I’m sorry I am new so give me a moment”. Simply wanting to learn your role will go a long way.

if you dont pick up everything super fast or u have a hard time with it, dont give up. i'd say give yourself at least a month or two to fully get comfortable and in the swing of things. if you need help with anything, whether it be how to make a drink or literally anything, ask ur team member cus theyve all been there before too. youve got this!
