Granted, I love my job & I'm still green bean, but it's SO important to have a space to vent. If other people's stores are good, that's great, but not every store is the same! And I HATE when people say "just quit" etc... it's not that simple or easy & we all live in the real world where bills give zero fucks, so quitting on the spot without another job lined up isn't possible. It's just classism at its finest.

I really have been contemplating leaving the other starbucks reddit and I think this helped me decide. Over there I feel like you can hardly say anything about what it's really like working for a shitty store for shitty customers without someone just stopping in saying "you know you don't have to work there, right? I work at starbucks and it's the best company I've ever been at" 🥲🥲🥲


like no I'm sorry that constantly having slurs thrown at us and having to stop customers from fighting and throwing hot water at kids while corporate does nothing is just me "whining" but hey I also have bills to pay and college to attend

I work with somebody that cannot deal with even the slightest negative comment about the company. Their attitude is love it or leave it, which is a dumb philosophy toward anything in life.

i hate when i want to rant about frappuccinos and i’ll have a bunch of partners in my comments saying things like “it’s your job”, “it’s what they pay you to do”, “quit complaining, it’s not that hard”.

everyone complains about their job! why is it such an issue when baristas do it? a lot of people find them annoying to make so i didn’t think it was that big of a deal for me to complain but *apparently* it is. sorry that i’m tired of making dozens of fraps during a rush, it’s exhausting and i need to let it out.

I felt the opposite kinda. The other group has a lot of Union stuff but it seems to get downvoted here, or ignored.

When I was a partner I got banned from the actual Reddit for being too negative lmao. Glad partners are finally starting to unionize and fight back against this shitty corporation. I miss working with my fellow partners but damn I do not miss the few who drank the kool-aid!

I get the whole “this is your job and if you’re unhappy then quit” attitude— but for fuck sake, are we not allowed to complain about our jobs like everyone else? Example: There’s nothing wrong with ordering a frappucino, but I’m sure as hell going to be slightly annoyed by the amount of time it’s going to take me to make it if we are already slammed! And to be entirely honest, meeting time quotas makes this even more stressful and makes the job even more taxing. We’re only human, we’re not machines as much as corporate would love for us to be.

I use to follow both, but the other sub not only licks the shit covered boot, but cover it in more shit as they lick it. Leaving the sub wasn’t enough though, it still came up as suggested. So not only did I leave, I also blocked it lol.

I don’t fancy boots, much less shit covered ones. This sub has the solidarity we all need.

One time I came back from lunch break an had other partners pull me aside an say the SM was telling everyone to be nice to me cuz I had a pregnancy test in my purse , when I confronted her about it she said my purse fell over an she called everyone to the back too look at it an tell her if it was theirs. ???? the fuck , I took my purse with me on my lunch , she then continued to berrate me about what a crappy barista I am an how she would never gossip. I went to the bathroom to collect myself an I could here her yelling to customers in the lobby how she didn't know what my problem was . I came back an she told me if I don't like her store I can get out. Called the PCR they told me to contact my DM ... My DM is close close friends with my SM. I messaged her about my concerns an was left on read. I've been really thinking about quitting but it's not right that this goes unchecked as her behavior continues this way.. not sure what the next move is.

And I have a feeling this same thing applies to an infinite number of other communities on Reddit. A bunch of insecure, power-tripping dipsticks moderate* the highest-traffic subs, bring similarly idiotic people into the mod club, and erase any possibility of productive, educational discourse.

The one silver lining is that this behaviour leads people to break off and create other subs to facilitate the conversations that should be happening.
