How did America get to a point where working professionals throw temper tantrums and assault workers over frappucinos and lattes?(self.starbucksbaristas)

What did the founding fathers fight for? I mean, really?

Probably dashed expectations, starbucks implies instant gratification and people are disappointed when that can’t be fulfilled
Also in america there is a prevailing idea that you can do and have anything you want, but you can’t
So like a combination of people broadly not knowing their role and false promises

Fr. Tell me why mobile orderers are THE WORST at waiting when their order isn’t done. Cafe customers at my store sometimes stand around for 10-15 minutes cause we get fkn slammed and they generally don’t mind. Some will get a look on their face but wait it out cause they see us busting our asses off and know we aren’t slacking. But when someone comes by for a mobile order that isn’t done yet and gets told their ticket isn’t gonna get worked on for another five minutes they have a full blown meltdown. They just stand there in front of the espresso bar and stare down the partner on hot bar. Asking “is that mine?” “How much longer?” Every fifteen seconds. It’s genuinely baffling to me. How can grown ass adults actually behave like that without any embarrassment? Too many people simply lack self awareness.

i once had a guy put in a mobile order and pull up not one minute later, park in the red zone with his hazards on (blocking an entire lane on a MAJOR road in LA) and then yell at US to hurry up because people were honking at him 🤦♀️ whole time the side street had AMPLE parking

1. Insane expectations. We conditioned the average american to believe they are the star of their own show. 2. Sense of superiority. Store level staff are working "dead end" jobs and many presume that they can't do "better." Customer-facing staff everywhere are beneath these people and can be abused, because that's part of the job and they don't like it, they can go to college like they did. 3. Starbucks serves everyone. Included in that group are a lot of different kinds of assholes.

It starts with telling every single child you raised that they are special but forgetting to also teach them about empathy, the social contract and community service.

A lot of the older crowd (35+) expects Starbucks to still function the way it used to 15 years ago. It’s just not the same anymore. It’s a fast food restaurant with a menu that is too damn big and mobile ordering/ DT focused ordering that has ruined the expectations of quality over quantity.
