Closing by myself today for the first time and im nervous (im still new) (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by mariesnowelle
hi, so I work at a starbucks (licensed) in a grocery store and have only been there for 3 weeks so far, i have never closed before and im alone by myself closing tonight from 3-8:30pm! (we are understaffed) and it actually gets pretty busy at my location so im scared i wont have enough time to do anything. my shift manager did go through a really quick rundown on how to do everything at night and she opens tomorrow and im afraid i will forget to do everything but im also scared of being alone by myself bc i still dont know how to make some of the drinks or how to (even though ive worked at a different coffee shop before, its all different here so i have to adjust) any advice or help? i appreciate it!

Take care of the money, make sure it’s all good, and have the stations clean, as far as sticking goes they can take care of that on the morning if you really can’t get to it. Just do what you can and most importantly write about the day in detail so they understand why you couldn’t get to something but to also write what they will need to prep. For hard closes that’d what I’d do, and I wouldn’t get any notes 👌🏽

You are going to do fine!! I started closing by myself on the 3rd day after I got hired. (I know!!! Not up to standards) it's not that difficult. I would suggest doing somethings before 8

Make sure the money is right, the store is clean, and some bigger things are prepped if possible(whips etc) and take everything else as it comes. Just do your best and take your time to not miss anything! You got it!
