Will I be fired if I can’t work a certain number of hours?(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by bobacore
I was hired within the past month, and since it was still summer, my schedule was a bit more free. However, I am a high school student and have school sports and so my availability has recently drastically changed. Before I even begin trying to figure out how to change my availability on the app, does anyone know if I can be let go for not reaching a certain amount of hours? I saw online somewhere that the minimum was 20 but I would be lucky to even squeeze in 16 at this point. Thanks!

the minimum is 12 with an availability of 18. Also it’s 12 averaged over a quarter so if u work less than 12 you should be ok as long as it can still average out. Also sick/vacation hours count towards this time i’m p sure

This is my concern as well. When I got hired I was honest and said I was a single mom and do it all on my own. I thought I'd be able to handle 8-5pm availability mon-sun but now that my kids are settled in school and sports and other school activities have started along with church obligations(worship team and hospitality team and child care crew) I am beyond stressed and running thin.
Due to my VA rating I'm only allowed to work up to 16 hours a week. I just recently changed my availability to 830am-4pm m-f. So im waiting to see how that turns out.

as long as you work an average of 12 hours you’re fine. that could be a 4 hour shift on a week day and then a 8 hour shift of a weekend which makes it seem more reasonable. but i’m not here to tell you what you can handle

This isn’t accurate. The minimum availability requirements are changing. For partners hired before august they change in October (hired in august already in effect) you have to maintain an average of 12 hours a week worked throughout the quarter (156 worked over 3 months is the number you need) after that is basically up to sm discretion
