Are we all on the same page to put pressure on the new CEO as soon as he is official?(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by PlantVader
This community is a great way to organize and discuss what we as employees (not partners) want to change about Starbucks. Tbh I just want credit card tips. Obviously there are more important issues at different locations so comment what you want and any ideas to put pressure on Laxman. #PositivePeerPressure #BullyingWorks

I’m going to ask him if he plans on putting on a condom before he fucks us over.
neilgreenbreen150 points10m ago
Yeah, it’s called unionizing
somewheredaydreaming35 points10m ago
😂😂😂 when you know, you know
Androgenousblob126 points10m ago
Card tips so they can tip 10 15 20 30% and better drive thru time calculation? If someone orders 20 frappe-chinos in the drive thru yeah the times are gonna go down
WorstNarcissist9 points10m ago
I don’t want to have to ask people if they want to tip or click a button saying no every time but I agree with the drive thru suggestion.
Androgenousblob23 points10m ago
Can I ask why?
baebaebluebird123 points10m ago
Apparently the most people that get the random survey to review the store are mobile order people which makes no sense to me because they ask them to rate partner connection but they don’t even talk to us since they just grab their drink and go :<
PlantVader [OP]39 points10m ago
That’s ridiculous. From what I’ve read, Laxman (new CEO) wants to make Starbucks more mobile order based because China is a huge portion of sales and with them being a zero covid case policy or whatever they want to emphasis the mobile order pick ups.
dnims24119 points10m ago
Cutting back on drinks that are literally so similar to each other. Example: the double chocolate chip and chocolate chip crumble. Unless I’m making it wrong, the latter just has whip at the bottom but is the exact same thing. It’s kinda annoying to me but I’m sure there are bigger issues
mommymary43 points10m ago
the java chip/double chocolaty chip frap only gets whip and mocha drizzle as a topping. the mocha cookie crumble/cookie crumble crème frap gets whip and cookie pieces on the bottom, more whip and cookie pieces on top and mocha drizzle on top. but they are the exact same thing in build otherwise

Unionizing works too! And that’s why the higher ups hate it.
PlantVader [OP]-56 points10m ago
Edit: Non-Union Stores can transfer to Union Stores. I was fed false information.
I honestly am not a fan of joining a union because I joined Starbucks several years ago because it allowed me to move and keep my job and that aspect gave me so much security and arguably saved my life when I was struggling to get away from toxic relationships. I work in a college town and so there is a lot of turn over because of people coming and going. I have worked in a store with older people in their 40s-60s and I absolutely think they should unionize but I just don’t think a union is a good fit at my store where people depend on transferring.
topic_discusser79 points10m ago
I don’t see how any of that would be negatively effected by a union
PlantVader [OP]-52 points10m ago
Edit: False information
You can’t transfer from a corporate store to a unionized store. You’d have to begin the rehiring process again, lose health insurance, stock benefits, ect.
vivnaomi83 points10m ago
Be careful. Corporate will say those things specifically because they don’t want you to unionize
topic_discusser51 points10m ago
Thats a bs rule imposed by corporate to discourage the spread of unionization. In fact, that’s a reason why EVERY store should unionize.
“Bullying” and “peer pressure” only work when there is actual power behind workers’ requests.
neilgreenbreen48 points10m ago
All of that is incorrect lol
chateauduchat46 points10m ago
Someone bought into the propaganda they were posting on the back 🫠
PlantVader [OP]37 points10m ago
Okay so as embarrassing as it is this is a good example of corporate lies. Take notes because other baristas may have been fed that information too.
clouds18328 points10m ago
the union busters say this to discourage people but in reality its only because you have to negotiate everything. you can fully negotiate having the ability to transfer to other non-unionized corporate stores freely. just put it in your contract.
dankmobile23 points10m ago
that is not true, my partner and I both just went corporate -> unionized. no difference besides a convo with our new SMs about what the unions look like
ElijahLordoftheWoods21 points10m ago
This is only because corporate made it a rule, the union’s not preventing any of that from happening, corporate is.
im_feeling_cold7 points10m ago
what are you talking about that’s not true??
darkwolf5236 points10m ago
That’s not how that work
vivnaomi22 points10m ago
Unionizing isn’t something that would hinder you much, if at all. It’s just a means for you and your fellow coworkers to have a significant voice in how things operate within your work place for you and the rest of us are the ones who are putting in serious labor. It’s just a ways to fight for yourself. Not too scary.
sheep_heavenly17 points10m ago
You're a fan of organizing your coworkers to achieve common goals, achieved by putting pressure on the company as the workers who make it run. But you're not a fan of joining a union, which is the exact process you just described But also involves things like paycheck protection and legal protection beyond what you get through just the law.
Transferring doesn't go away when you unionize, that's a super common store manager lie. I've literally been forcibly transferred since my store unionized and my store just saw six different minors and/or college students transfer away most of them to non-union stores.
I promise you, what's your describing is being in a union just with less protections and less power with the only thing turning you off of unions that you said so far being corporate lies.
EyesOpenedWide314 points10m ago
Maybe get the right facts before you start spewing non truths.
PlantVader [OP]17 points10m ago
I thought it was true because that’s what I had been told so I made an edit to the top of my comment. I’m not going to delete it cause it’s important that other baristas can see what may be holding their coworkers back from unionizing with them. Chill out with the negativity. We’re here to help each other out.
ashleyokk28 points10m ago
the way pro union partners are so quick to jump down the throat of another partner with a different viewpoint doesn’t make the idea of unionizing any more appealing 🤷🏻♀️ looking forward to getting downvoted like y’all did to OP lmao
sheep_heavenly36 points10m ago
Correcting blatant disinformation != jumping down throats of people with different viewpoints. It's incorrect to say you can't transfer from or to a union store. I've heard people very confidently say the most blatant lies as if they're facts and it gets a bit frustrating to see other workers parroting it without understanding it's heavily twisted lies.

Oh, so not related to this post? Gotcha. Kinda irrelevant then, which is what down voting means.
PlantVader [OP]33 points10m ago
I was fed false information so it’s totally okay. I’d rather they call me out than continue to spread false union information.
topic_discusser21 points10m ago
Isn’t that what you’re doing here… jumping down the throats of the people who have different viewpoints from you?
PlantVader [OP]14 points10m ago
Hey hey hey, what’s this negativity? We’re here to make a plan to bully the new CEO.

topic_discusser3 points10m ago
And that’s not close to what anyone else is doing lol.
CalDoesMaths9 points10m ago
I’m on the same page with you and op. Bring on the downvoted. I’m not anti or pro union, I just have no stance. I’m in a store with a solid sm and a solid team, so I don’t personally find it needed, I do see the value to some stores

Credit card tips are literally coming later this year though?
likechasingclouds40 points10m ago
"On May 3, 2022, Starbucks publicly committed to the "introduction of credit card / debit card tipping by late 2022 as ways for customers to further recognize their favorite baristas.""
Here's hoping they stick to this.
PetMySquid18 points10m ago
They can recognize their favorite baristas buy tipping everybody who worked that week? That phrasing as shoddy at best.
Although I guess I can’t complain considering at my last job at cafe zupas they didn’t allow employees to receive ANY tips.
PlantVader [OP]6 points10m ago
Noooo but their tomato soup and pesto grilled cheese is so good though! That place got me through covid tbh.
PlantVader [OP]12 points10m ago
They keep pushing back the date. I was told we would receive them by August with our raises and now it’s a mystery date.
Gameb0i69 points10m ago
Credit card tips are already on the way.
dreadheada3 points10m ago
Wait we don’t get the tips from credit cards ??! Then where do they go?
ElijahLordoftheWoods12 points10m ago
There’s no way to tip while paying with a card in store. Never has been.
dreadheada4 points10m ago
I think that’s maybe something they want to implement like at the registers. You can tip when you order on the app afterwords but that’s about it.
ElijahLordoftheWoods-14 points10m ago
Yeah that’s what ‘tipping on cards’ means
dreadheada4 points10m ago
Yeah I know that…
Swimming-Fee-2445-2 points10m ago
I think they mean debit cards. I believe credit tips are on your paycheck
ElijahLordoftheWoods3 points10m ago
There’s no option to tip on a card what are you talking about?
dreadheada0 points10m ago
gotcha. Do you mind if i ask the difference between credit tips & debit tips? I’m honestly not too sure
smoolbeean-4 points10m ago
just curious… what new ceo??? if youre talking about howard… ummmmm he not new just taking back control
