advice for dealing with another shift (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by beetreddwigt
Does anyone have advice for coaching a fellow shift when you are also a shift? I've tried multiple times bringing up standards to my fellow shift and everytime I've said something I've been meet with "oh it's fine don't worry about it". Ranging from situations like not making whips right, to storing food on the floor and not in the fridge for long lengths of time to not making cold brew properly. My SM is aware and she is planning on speaking to him and keeping a close eye but I'm getting really sick and tired of trying to coach to standards and then him openly telling me it's not a big deal in front of other baristas.

i've dealt with similar situations by responding either "it kind of is though" or "it's not much extra work to do it the right way" especially if it's busy 🤷

can always add on the fact that it might confuse sprouts to see it being done multiple ways, might be the kinder way to say it

I've said things like " but we are responsible for setting the tone" to a fellow ssv when they dismissed basic standards. I have one that will pull cold brews way before the 20hr mark just to "get it over with".
