Transferring question (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Just-Examination7702
So I’m fairly new to Starbucks and I commute to my current store but there is many stores on the same street as my house. I am also miserable here and want to cry everyday once I get home. Does anyone know if I have to wait the 6 months to transfer?

I believe there’s no employment time requirement. I’d let your SM know you’re looking to transfer at least 2-3 weeks beforehand at the bare minimum. The process usually takes a couple of days, as long as both SMs aren’t dragging their feet. Best of luck!

partner guide book says nothing about needing to be employed for a certain time, only that you’ve completed the barista basics and are in good standing with no recent written corrective action. it says ideally that you would give 60 days notice to let them prepare but doesn’t say its a requirement. I’d say just talk to the sm at the store you wanna transfer to and see if they have an opening and would be accepting of you and then request a transfer.

Okay great, thank you so much for that advice!

are you asking if you have to be employed for 6 months before asking, or to request a transfer and then wait 6 months ?

If I have to be employed with Starbucks for 6 months before I ask to transfer.

6 MONTHS???? I believe it should only be 60 days? That’s a very bizarre amount of time to wait for a transfer… i mean realistically does anyone know 6 months in advance that they’ll need to transfer? What if it’s an emergency?

If you’re miserable you should transfer. There’s no point putting yourself through hell when there are other stores where you can be much happier

I just read a lot about it being 6 months but I wanted another opinion. Thank you !

As far as I know it’s 60 days. It could be different for every district/region and depending on the availability at stores, but 6 months is still an absurd amount of time to wait to transfer! At that point you’re better off applying to another job!
