hello also a safeway barista! i’m sorry your trainer is being very rude. I would talk to the safeway store director and ask if you can get trained at another safeway, properly, for the full time. You can even ask your SD to contact the Operations Specialist if they can’t find a store. Because there is a store. Basically, every safeway store is SUPPOSED to have 2 licensed leaders, 2 barista trainers and the rest regular baristas. But safeway sucks at treating the starbucks department seriously especially with training. Some of my coworkers had to train at corporate, one for only 3 days ! Being a barista will take a lot of time, especially at safeway. but i like the customers at safeway a lot lot better. We honestly don’t get heavily modded drinks much and it’s mostly regular shoppers everyday. It’s very tight knit which i like. if u can find proper training then safeway should be a bit of a breeze. sorry ur manager sucks. definitely bring it up with ur DM or SD when you get a chance.
Literally first thing we learn as barista trainers is to walk them thru the store, thru the kiosk, show them everything, and make them feel welcome. We even do coffee tasting and pastry tasting. It’s a lot of reading too.
I will admit they didn’t do this for me, but i’ve made it a point to do it for everyone else if i’m requested to train someone now. It really makes or break if they stay their full time or not.
best of luck to you :)
