seeking advice on how to deal with my SM… (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by milliondollargrave02
i’m a SSV at my store with a new SM. this is our 5th SM in the past year, and they have been here for about 2 months. this is by far the worst management our store has ever been under. our SM is extremely unprofessional in the way they handle the store and with the remarks they make to our partners. about a month ago, i received word from another SSV at our store that our SM “was trying to get rid of me”. i talked to my SM about it, and they said that the other SSV was lying and that i needed to think about their intentions and why they would lie about that to me. i do not believe the other SSV was lying and i think our SM is trying to cover their tracks. to tell other partners that they are trying to “get rid of me” is extremely unprofessional when they’ve never come to me with any issues on my performance or anything else. apart from that, i was scheduled to open 2 weeks ago, and could not make it in because i was in the ER. i had an ovarian cyst rupture was put on sedatives and an IV immediately. i was unable to call the store or my SM due to the fact that i was unconscious. our store opens at 4:30AM, and i called at about 6AM. i completely understand that it would’ve been preferable for me to call sooner, however, i was indisposed in the ER and unable to do so. i brought in a doctor’s note, and then my SM gave me a write up and documented it as a “no call no show”. i’m not sure if that write up is something they had the grounds to do considering i was in the ER and provided a doctors note, but whatever. fast forward to this weekend. thursday night, i texted my SM at about 10:30PM asking if they could help me find coverage for the following day because i had a fever of 102 and was throwing up non stop. i couldn’t even keep water down without puking and i’m pretty sure it was food poisoning. my SM texted me back calling me unreliable and telling me that i was responsible for my own coverage and that they would not be helping me find coverage. i reached out to our other SSV’s and was not able to find coverage and hadn’t heard anything further from my SM. i called them and let them know i couldn’t find coverage and that i wouldn’t be able to come in. my SM said that i was lying, began to mock my issues with my ovarian cysts saying “oh let me guess this has something to do with your ulcers or whatever.”, telling me that i needed a doctors note, saying that i picked up too many hours and just didn’t want to come into work, etc. i told them that i didn’t know what they expected from me unless they were wanting me to come in sick considering i had messaged them the night before. i am pretty sure when i return tomorrow, they are going to try and give me a write up or fire me. i’m thinking of calling ethics and compliance and reporting my SM. thoughts?

Report it to DM, RM, humans resources.

our DM is also not a fan of me because of the misinformation my SM has spread about me. that’s why i’m thinking of going to HR/ethics and compliance

Document days and times these things happen, who is around, and how it made you feel. They will want some sort of written statement to investigate. It will be investigated, if anything comes of it 🤷‍♀️. But it’s your best option if you are trying to stay at the bux. If not i’d just leave if I were you.
