Tattoo question (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by rtsneedshelp
If any of you have an inappropriate tattoo (small but on your face or on a limb but workplace inappropriate like nudity/language/etc) have your managers told you to cover it with tattoo concealer or clothing, or are you being threatened with termination despite having it when you were hired?

Similarly, with the new dress code update, has anyone been told they can no longer cover piercings and that they must be removed completely?

Technically you are only allowed one face piercing even with a mask but I would never dress code someone if they had multiple but wore a mask that covered all or all but one. As for the tattoo it’s always been no facial or inappropriate visible tattoos so you shouldn’t have been hired if you had it unless they made it clear it had to be covered.

I still never understood the reason to dress code piercings.

It’s an outdated corporate idea that tattoos and piercings are unprofessional and off putting. I don’t really agree with it either but sadly for now it is a standard :(

My manager couldn’t care less, they’re covered in tattoos and I have four face piercings and I’ve never been bothered about once

A bunch of my coworkers have piercings, and I have my fair share of them. Not an issue since my manager also has them (6 to be exact). Just as long as we dont wear the drop earrings or dangly ones we’re good

I haven’t been told that but I wouldn’t be surprised if I did considering I agreed to the dress code in my application and again when I signed that I understand the partner guide.
