we’re severely understaffed—there’s only four of us running a $10k/wk kiosk and this morning in our tired haze my barista asked me, “what happens if you warm a cake pop??”—we were dying of laughter for 10 straight minutes at 6am(reddit.com)

New2Nash19772 points10m ago
This may be a dumb question, but I’ve never heard the term bar partner before. What does it mean?
diphenhydranautical1 points10m ago

Our old manager (supervisor with a fancy title, if I'm being honest) used to put frozen cake pops on top of the coffee brewer when we got low. They didn't get the brown crispy, but basically otherwise looked like this.
Kiosk solidarity, we had five and I have been pushing to get a sixth for a year. They didn't want to. Not the manager, so I knew they didn't have to listen to me at all, but five is too few, seven is too many and no one ends up getting hours. Six helps, we aren't over worked, still get breaks, and calling in sick doesn't kill everyone else.

I manage a kiosk and I have to fight tooth and nail to get my (Kroger) SM to hire baristas for me. Needless to say I am very close with the head of HR 🫣
n2bxl [OP]5 points10m ago
lack of applications aside, my bosses encouraged me to “make it work” with just 5 baristas, but when everyone kept accumulating overtime (making my Starbucks the department with the highest amount of overtime hours) they figured “ah! i think they need a little more help to get everything done!”

What was the consistency of the inside of the cake pop?
n2bxl [OP]5 points10m ago
it was super mushy, not half bad if you can stomach how weird the texture of the icing was
mrcupcake184 points10m ago
Omg wicked witch of the waste from Howls Moving Castle in cake pop form! 😂😂
n2bxl [OP]1 points10m ago

Same situation for my Safeway kiosk, 3 of us ATM with 2 cross trained checkers (both of whom are planning on leaving this month). We're gonna have to close early today and the store manager says we might get fined $5000 for it
n2bxl [OP]1 points10m ago
excuse me, *fined?* We never got fined when we had to close early??
EliMinivan2 points10m ago
Idk man It might be different for licensed stores, because my kiosk is owned by Safeway not Starbucks.
n2bxl [OP]1 points10m ago
and i oo- you learn something new every day haha
n2bxl [OP]1 points10m ago
We’re under the Albertsons division, but I guess different DMs have different methods
EliMinivan1 points10m ago
Safeway is owned by Albertsons, maybe she is lying.
