How to tell your SM you are wanting to quit? (self.starbucksbaristas)

I've only been a partner a lil over a month. I suffer from severe PTSD and anxiety from issues that arose when I was in the Army.

I haven't worked in 12+ years due to my mental health and physical health. I recently became a single mom and needed a job to supplement my disability pay and child support.

So I applied to many places Starbucks ws the only one who offered me an interview.

I thought I was ready to be back in the workforce. I thought I could handle the job.

But I can't. It's to much for me. I'm overwhelmed. My mental health isn't ok. I stress about the work day before I go in and then I dwell on my mistakes after I'm off. I'm not ok mentally and I feel like I'm always letting my tem down. I always make little mistakes. I always ask questions. I'm just not cut out for the high speed fast paced job.

I do plan on giving 2 weeks but I just feel awful doing it. Like I'm letting them down. I truly love my coworkers but I just can't continue to feel this way while working.

Just turn in your two weeks, you don’t owe them anything (tbh you don’t even owe them a notice if it’s affecting you this severely). Your health is far more important than a job. If they try to play the disappointment card, ignore it. Please take care of yourself.

I’m sorry this is so hard. I left a position earlier than I had hoped for different but similar reasons. It’s OK that you aren’t ready - let them know your two weeks. Take a little more time to heal and take care of yourself. You now know you’re not ready and know what you might be oK doing for work. It’s really frustrating and embarrassing when you used to be able to do certain things and your brain or body just won’t let you anymore. You’ve got this.

Hey love, you could reduce your hours for a bit and sit on it if you're a little undecided. But don't feel guilty if you can't stay, there are plenty of jobs out there especially because of COVID.
