Every so often we get someone complain that “the foam tastes like whipped cream” like… it’s essentially just liquid whip cream what do you want from me
EarthLaser 55 points 10m ago
The only complaint I ever hear is that there wasn’t enough. I learned to make sure the top third of the cup is cold foam to avoid any conflict.
g_pvp_3 35 points 10m ago
omg a couple weeks ago this woman called us and she asked if we had dairy free whipped cream..
then she actually came in the store and tried to order it after we told her we don’t have dairy free whip …
salaciainthedepths 9 points 10m ago
You guys don’t have dairy free whip?? Wild Europe & uk markets do.
g_pvp_3 9 points 10m ago
no omg i didn’t know this was a thing
crowhusband [OP] 176 points 10m ago
fr tho yall do Not have to put foam on Everything 🤠
Jabuetow 87 points 10m ago
Especially hot drinks. Ty.
Psychological-Tax543 27 points 10m ago
I used to have faith in people… then I started working at Starbucks…
charlenebean 11 points 10m ago
This is exactly it 💀
BelligerentCoroner 26 points 10m ago
I had a customer who complained that her hot americano wasn't hot enough because of the *extra cold foam* she ordered on top of it, so she requested that we make cold foam and then steam it so it would be *warm cold foam.*

(I convinced her to put a pump of vanilla in her Americano and top it with steamed cream instead.)

(Edit because HOLY COW the typos.)
Alive-Duck8459 24 points 10m ago
Stupid bitch
Tiovivo1 1 points 9m ago
I used to find this very weird. Cold foam in a hot drink until another partner said to me “why is it weird? You put cold whip cream on hot drinks all the time” 😲
Fair-Technician-9892 1 points 10m ago
You're still not listening. I said no foam. I know it's hard for you to make my cup of coffee, but make it happen.
VibraniumQueen 103 points 10m ago
When they add it on top of shaken espressos and iced match a that are already pretty foamy, it makes me mad
mymelodywithaglock 26 points 10m ago
for real, then you have to wizardry to make no foam in the shaken drink 😃 i will shake the matcha with no ice …scoop out foam…but the fact i have to scoop it -___- or when ppl say there’s too much foam in their drink that comes foamy i just stare at them like “i make it to standard, just try it” n they’ll give me a stink eye then try it and will admit im right and it’s good. then they come back …again …and again….
VibraniumQueen 16 points 10m ago
Lmao. The barista that's been at my Starbucks the longest other than the team lead (I'm at a Tarbucks) automatically scoops the foam out of those drinks when someone asks for cold foam in addition to them. That just sounds like a lot of extra work tho
imathrowayslc 8 points 10m ago
I do all my matchas in the cold foam blender. They turn out so much better.
nousername1007 6 points 10m ago
i used to do it in the blender also but with ice added so it mixes nice and doesn't foam, until customers caught on and a lady asked for me specifically to make it and do it in the blender. that part is ok by me because i think it's fun making it in the blender, but what if i wasn't working at the time, no way am i gonna make that extra work for other baristas so now i only do in the blender when i know there's no customers seeing me do it
g_pvp_3 6 points 10m ago
my coworker showed my that way but i forgot all about it till you just mentioned it. :) im gonna try making at least one that way tonight (if i flop then im never attempting it again lmaooo)
ConsequenceOk2590 4 points 10m ago
Please stop
dnims24 2 points 10m ago
That’s awesome! I’ll have to remember to try doing that next shift
capsule_of_anxiety1 5 points 10m ago
I do this, it’s only one added extra step but it improves the quality of the drink and reduces complaints and me having to deal with bitchiness
politelymalicious 2 points 10m ago
this probably seems too tedious but i strain out the liquid with the shaker lid and then just add new ice on top
ConsequenceOk2590 0 points 10m ago
You’re working too hard just make it exactly how you would normally
Mushyroom420 2 points 10m ago
Omg you’re coming for me 🫣my favorite drink rn is a brown sugar shaken with pumpkin cold foam
VibraniumQueen 5 points 10m ago
That's fine, just know that you're gonna have two layers of foam, lol. If it was just plain vanilla cold foam I'd recommend you'd just have them add vanilla sweet cream since it's the same thing just not blended into a foam.
Mushyroom420 2 points 10m ago
Yeah I’m not usually bothered with the two layers of foam I get free coffee all day anyway I only like it with the pumpkin foam

I don't get it on hot drinks. The texture has got to be about the same as whipped cream that has sat for a couple minutes.
Responsible_Snow7109 27 points 10m ago
Lol well one time I had somebody order from my store through Uber Eats and they got 18 drinks and six of those drinks were venti triple blonde cappuccinos with two raw sugars and made with oat milk and I forget what syrup they asked to be used in there but on all six of those Venti cappuccinos, they also wanted salted caramel cream cold foam. I cannot imagine the state of those six cappuccinos by the time it reached the customer. But they have ordered those same drinks a couple times from my store through Uber Eats lol
scoot_the_poet 13 points 10m ago
Ngl when I was still at the bucks I made Uber eats drinks wrong constantly. You wanted cold foam? Oops, I put whipped cream on it instead SEND IT
Responsible_Snow7109 5 points 10m ago
Lmao it do be like that sometimes 😄 did u make drinks wrong constantly or did u make drinks "wrong" constantly? Lolol but no in all seriousness, i feel ya because some days when its insane and u get an 18 drink uber eats order or some other ridiculous number, i get so flustered and have made things accidentally wrong and when i realized it, it was already packed and sitting in the bags during a rush lol 😬
g_pvp_3 5 points 10m ago
sometimes by the time i realized, the uber driver has already came to pick it up & the person prob has their incorrect drink. one time i gave an uber eats order the wrong drink (after i talked to the girl on the phone telling her what i was gonna give her instead since what she wanted we didn’t have). it was a genuine mistake, i just packed the wrong drink in her bag. i felt so bad because by the time i realized, i was off the clock.
scoot_the_poet 2 points 10m ago
Little bit of both. It depended on how the customer treated us if they were in the store and how complicated their drink was if they mobile ordered or used Uber eats. If they were jerks I decaffed them. If they ordered decaf I let the shot sit as long as possible. If they ordered sweet cream on a hot drink I put whipped cream on it. Honey citrus mint tea? Nah just jade citrus mint, honey, and a splash of lemonade. I don’t have time to steam stuff when there’s a line to the door
diphenhydranautical 8 points 10m ago
i’ve heard some people say it’s like whip but better, so idk…i’ve never tried it. i always let them know it’ll melt and they usually still want it
MysticsWonTheFinals 2 points 10m ago
Whip with more sugar…
b__mo 7 points 10m ago
We aren’t allowed to give it on hot drinks at my store 🤷🏽‍♀️
imathrowayslc 2 points 10m ago
Why? A $1.25 is a $1.25
b__mo 8 points 10m ago
The hot drink heats the cold foam to an unsafe temp so bacteria has the chance to grow 🤷🏽‍♀️ nothing to do with charging customers, just apparently not safe.
imathrowayslc 7 points 10m ago
Yeah that’s not science. It’s literally the exact same ingredients as whip.
HarleyLeMay 4 points 10m ago
It’s literally made from milk, heavy cream, and syrup. If that’s how it worked we wouldn’t be allowed to put creamer in coffee either. Your manager doesn’t sound very bright, no offense.
Kaluskydrak 1 points 10m ago
We used to do that too. But if the mobile app isn’t going to stop the customer, why should I?
kaynist 29 points 10m ago
when u find out most of them just stir the shit out of it so it goes back to liquid and mixes into their drink..... wHY DID I MAKE THE FOAM THEN???? WHY DID YOU WASTE MY TIME????
Praxlyn -23 points 10m ago
the texture changes the drink entirely and in a really good way jeez 💀
BongHitsForFeds 0 points 10m ago
Vanilla and heavy cream will achieve the same end result.
Praxlyn 0 points 10m ago
Except that its already blended for me in the cold foam, so why would I wanna do that? why is there such a problem w ppl ordering cold foam 😐
BongHitsForFeds 1 points 10m ago
Two substances mixed with similar ratio one just isn't pointlessly blended since you prefer your whole drink homogenized anyway. It just saves your barista some time. At the end of the day there is no problem, it's our job to do it, however in a job where one of the biggest problems is our customers have absolutely zero idea what they were ordering, it can be frustrating putting up with the entitled incredulous responses when we recommend something to make everyone's lives easier. I hope this helps.

Edit: also I hope the comment about it "already being blended" comes from the ignorance of being a customer, because yes it comes blended for YOU, but the employee still has to spend the extra time making it properly before you obliterate your sugar confection with a spoon for the "texture."

me when people get sccf and whipped cream on fraps at my store
ShannyES 19 points 10m ago
Here’s what I don’t get. Can’t we get like half chargers? Wouldn’t that make the same consistency? Because other places are using canned cold foam. Why can’t we prep them like whips? The blending of the cold foam is what makes it annoying. Let us prep them like whips.
mymelodywithaglock 13 points 10m ago
i’ve been saying they need to give us those tiny battery powered whisk frothers. they would be absolutely perfect for drinks like matcha, and it would be great for making cold foam on the fly.
LOAD1NG_PROFILE 4 points 10m ago
I know it's not standard but sometimes my team used the foaming pitcher to blend matcha lattes
I_love_you_drugs 2 points 10m ago
Lmao that’s not standard??? that’s how I made matcha lattes every single time
shipssiren 4 points 10m ago
Oml nooooo you have to build them in the shaker
voidsalts 9 points 10m ago
Me watching the iced caramel macchiato with cold foam get stirred vigorously the moment it’s handed off 😭 PLEASE
throwawaystarbiegirl 6 points 10m ago
honestly that’s why i like it on my cold drinks. Whipped cream seems to sit weird on the ice and not mix as well as the cold foam😭never on hot drinks tho
Better_Dust_2364 4 points 10m ago
When I’ve had people ask what it is that’s exactly how I describe it 💀😂 “it’s basically liquid whipped cream”
BothWeb1004 3 points 10m ago
Just a friendly reminder, cold foam on hot drinks does not curdle, is not unsafe, and was a Canadian drink sold to millions. If it's not allowed in your store, go watch that heavy cream curdle in that passion tea keto drink. 😉
watched17 3 points 10m ago
Had a delivery order today. Black tea with pumpkin cold foam 😐🙃 I’m sorry WHAT ???
LOAD1NG_PROFILE 2 points 10m ago
Hmm well Chai is a black tea mix with spices so it's not too out there 🤔 I gotta try it today lol
PetMySquid 2 points 10m ago
I’m a firm believer in nonfat cold foam. It’s the only foam we had standard when my old store got the new cold foam pitchers a few years back. It was a week before I was deployed and I tried turning EVERY LIQUID WE HAD that week into a cold foam. But only the nonfat turned into this glistening, smooth, silky, consistent, absolutely delicious foam. 2 scoops of vanilla bean blended in that and topped off on a nitro is just *chefs kiss*
poetixvirgo 2 points 10m ago
I’m waiting on them to realize if you just asked for whipped cream with a flat lid it would give the same effect as the VSCCF
BothWeb1004 2 points 10m ago
I feel like our bar layout is easier to move around at our store, or I'm just a bar master, because cold foam doesn't bother me nor hinder my sequencing.
RoccoSteal 2 points 10m ago
Every customer that asks for Sweet Cream all the time, I’ve already accepted them as brain dead.
Necessary_Low939 2 points 10m ago
Yeah but will they ever learn 😒
veggiemans 1 points 10m ago
it’s way more sweet
Moraii 1 points 10m ago
I really like it and got a frother for at home. Sorry :(

It’s heavy cream and vanilla. same stuff as wc
HarleyLeMay 1 points 10m ago
It also has 2% milk in it. Which is why it’s not actually the same as whipped cream.
scoot_the_poet -1 points 10m ago
You’re right, it sucks more :/
HarleyLeMay -3 points 10m ago
That’s an opinion. A lot of people like it.
