Time off policy? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by trouble-in-space
Hey, I wasn’t really told about the time-off policy upon starting, so I was a little curious about it since I am looking to take some time off ranging from October 8th through the 15th. I will at the least want to take two to three days off, but most likely not the entire week because of plans with family and with my significant other. I’m not entirely sure yet how many days I will need to have off because my future hours are only scheduled up to the next three-ish weeks. However, I was just wondering if taking more than, say, a day off, would be too much to ask. This is mostly because I only started working for the company at the beginning of last month. I read that you start to acquire vacation hours after having worked with the company for a year, so what is the policy for newer partners? Does that mean those vacation days become paid days-off once you’ve been an employee for a year or longer, or can you just not take vacation days at all if you’re a newer partner? Would it be a bad idea for me to use my sick days for time off? Thanks.

Like another commenter posted the partner guide/handbook has all time off info. You should have gotten the handbook when you had your first sip. You must submit your time off request 21 days in advance. Time off is not guaranteed. Until you accrue vacation time, it will be unpaid time off. There is no retro fitting vacation days. Talk with your SM as soon as possible. Some are flexible about adjusting days if they haven’t written that schedule yet. Just submit what days you think you will need for now so at least your manager knows you will be needing the time off.

You would request off in partner hours. Since you don't have accrued vacation time, you would just take those days off without pay. If you aren't sick or are trying to use sick time for something other than what it's meant for, like what you're talking about it being used for, it must likely will be denied. There are guidelines for sick time bring used in the partner guide. Hope this helped!

Request time off three weeks in advance on the SBUXPartnerHrs App if not you’ll miss your opportunity to request time off.

you can request time off on the partner hours on the boh computer. ask your sm or ssv to show you where. you won’t get paid for those days, you just won’t get scheduled those days. just make sure you request time off before the next schedule gets posted.
