Scheduled time for training modules? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by highspeed06
Do any of you get time schedule to do the modules things? i know i have some overdue now but i simply don’t have time to do them during normal shifts when we have to worry about closing tasks and customers

I asked our ASM about it right before fall launch and she said we were expected to “come in on our own time” before or after shifts to do the modules and i didn’t ask her to elaborate if that meant clock in for them or not… i’m not doing them with out getting paid though. I ended up doing the fall modules while i did drive through because i’m new and have namer made any of the fall drinks or know any of the fall beverages well.

also, I was definitely not told that during my training but it’s also my understand that nobody before we recently got our new SM ever did the modules unless they had to had to.

If she’s telling you to come in on your own time, take advantage of that. It’s fully illegal to not pay someone for hours worked, including mandatory training, so you would either punch in or write in the book. However, most of these training modules are short, and I believe it is company wide that they will not pay out less than a minimum of 2 hours pay for a punch — I’ve had 1-hour partner meetings that netted 2 hours pay. You could hypothetically work for 30 minutes and take home some extra cash 🤷‍♂️

why would they pay that out, instead of adding it to your hours for the week?

Labor laws. Sbux totals your shift punches, but if a shift punch is less than two hours it’s rounded upwards. In my area this is the law, but again, unless I’m mistaken or things have changed it is company-wide.

you can do them at home, just write down the time you start and end and then write the times in the book as training. just go to partner hub, search my learning, and it should be on there.

or you can clock in on the boh computer and do training modules and then clock out when you’re done. either way yes you legally have to be clocked in for those modules.
