so i'm an SSV in ohio, and ever since i transferred to a different store two years ago i haven't understood why they don't give two ten minutes breaks (for 7+ hour shifts) when they're supposed to. like the breaks are all laid out on the DCR and they just cross off second tens. my SM and other managers have agreed that we are "supposed to" give second tens but just won't? i've also spoken to the DM about it and nothing was done. i just think it's unfair people are being shorted another paid break. does anyone else deal with this? what else can i do?

I see this all the time also. I need my breaks. I have really severe arthritis in my joints and have had multiple knee surgeries which has resulted in having bone on bone in both knees. It gets really painful to stand for 6+ hours at a time. When that happnes, I go to whoever is running the shift and say "I need my second 10" or "when do you think I'm getting my other 10 minute break"? It's in the partner guide that all scheduled breaks need to be taken. Follow up with PRSC or your area PRM if you've already brought it up to the DM.

At my store we're so busy that some shift leads tend to just not give people their paid breaks. I insist on taking mine, it really is that simple. Often they will assume that because no one has asked that day for one, that partners don't care if they get their breaks. I always ask or mention it to the shift lead if it looks like mine is going to be skipped.
