Just had to change my availability because of school but now I guess my hours don’t fit the needs of the business even though I’m changing one day? And now manager said he’s going to need me to “ resign “. This all sounds like something from antiwork. Any thoughts on this ?

Ask to transfer if they can’t fit your needs. Might find better hours at a busier store if you can find one. Don’t resign though. Let them fire if you can afford to burn that bridge. Getting fired will help you collect unemployment easier than quitting.

I don't recommend accepting getting fired due to the fact that starbucks typically wouldn't sign off on the payout of unemployment in a firing situation. I do think that looking for a transfer is more flexible or maybe talking with the manager to see how they can work together to find a solution that works for both partner and store team.

I actually went through that (not with Starbucks). The company fired me and tried to deny my unemployment claim. The unemployment office scheduled a hearing with a judge over the phone, an it was settled in my favor. If you’re unlawfully fired and can prove it, you’ll get your unemployment.

The minimum availability requirement for everyone goes into effect in October. Is it that or is it business needs?

What is that? Sorry

There is an upcoming minimum availability requirement that you should have read about in a weekly update recently and your sm should be talking to everyone about if they aren’t reaching it.

Do you know how many hours?
Superb-Coast-7802 points10m ago
I believe it’s work at least 12 per week and available at least 18 per week

18 minimum hours of availability so they can schedule you at least 12

The business needs

Unfortunately that is part of what you sign when you hire on.

if it comes down to it, have them fire you, make them do their jobs. then you actually qualify for unemployment if you need. do ask about transferring, but its possible theyve already made the decision that youre already gone to them. Starbucks has new priorities and half of them involve making life suck for students
