So context: me and my partner are moving to SD from FL around Jan/Feb of 2023. we are both SSVs at the same store.

So, we’ve been shifts since January/February. The DM and my manager have both taken an interest in me being an ASM (and i would like to as well) however i’ve been told by my SM and DM that they aren’t going to promote me because i’m moving. now i’m kinda at a loss bc i have repor at this store and it’s not like im moving next week. this is several months away. im kinda upset and i don’t understand

if you’re both ssv’s at the same store, its against sbux policy for you to promote bc you’d have power over your partner. one of you would have to transfer before you’d get the chance to promote.

we’ve already agreed that i would be leaving (also bc my manager already has an ASM she’s training plus an already trained asm)

The main reason I can think of is that every district is very limited on management spots, mainly SMs and ASMs. So yes, it'd be nice to get a promotion and training, but there is a very good chance that when you do eventually move, the new district won't have a spot open for you, so you'd essentially get a demotion and the training won't be fresh in your mind if you do end up moving up to ASM, you'd have to do training again. I'm sorry you're in this position though
