So much talking...so much fake cheerfulness.

I would say it’s very fem dominated at the bux but I always appreciate having more male coworkers because some weird shit always happens at a Starbucks. Sucks when you have 3 women at night closing and the store gets a threat call 😝

my store has a pretty good mix of guys, girls, and enbies. it makes the atmosphere so much more enjoyable to the point that we hang out outside of work. i think you’ll be fine!
as for your last question, all we do all day is talk to customers. it’s easier to sort of turn off your brain and let it happen 😅

Lots of talking to people. My store is very close to being half male/half female.

tbh it’s nice to have guys on the team! the very few guys at my store are super nice and funny and sociable. as long as you’re able to take a couple jokes you’ll be fine :) honestly the customer interaction stops feeling like a social interaction after a while since your time with each customer is so short, i tend to socialize more with my coworkers than anything

I’m a dude and I make the most gay jokes with my other male coworkwrs

Im a guy and its pretty fine working here as one, l have a few other male coworkers too. Most people just tend to assume you’re gay in my experience, but its not really a big deal to me. You’re gonna be pretty social everyday, lots of greeting and talking, my store really pushes the social aspect of it to keep the “third place” going and our customer connections up

Gender doesn't really have anything to do with it, you can work at starbs and identify/present however you like.
Before I moved, most of the Starbucks locations near me had lots of guys working there. The Reserve near me was actually *mostly* men. You just have to be ready to be turbo-customer servicey and overly nice.
If you have RBF, you might get asked to look happier by management lol
But it's retail/fast food. All it is is talking and running constantly for the whole shift, basically. Prepare to hydrate

We actually have quite a few guys. Most of them do great and are very sociable. We have one that just needs to reconsider his job choice. Im sure he is good at other things but damn. You can’t put him anywhere without him complaining or just doing a horrible job overall. Im actually perplexed the more I think about it. He been there long enough to have some grasp on the job but every shift with him is like his first shift. We even have another guy who took forever to figure everything out but he used common sense to figure most things out instead of constantly complaining or standing around. Overall I say go for it! Its a fun job once you get the hang of it and very fast paced. Days go by pretty quick. Of course there are downfalls with management but you get that almost everywhere. You learn regulars and build rapport pretty easily with them. You learn just how crazy people can get over coffee. Even if you don’t like it I definitely recommend trying.
