Shift life worse life (self.starbucksbaristas)

Maybe it's just me. I feel like we got it the worst, from Batistas to upper management to the customers and shortages

I think there are troubles at each level. I just quit today because the issue is all the blame runs to us. Baristas will get write-ups(if that), we get Final Warning write ups. As the first write up. We get the shaft of running understaffed floors. We're the 'bad guys' divvying up the duties to baristas. If there is any conflict, either between baristas or from customers, we're the front line. My district manager directly told us(a group of shift leads), that we carry the stores. Store managers do scheduling and other barista filing, I don't want to short change them, but there's a reason why there is one of them and 4-7 of us. We run the store and keep it functioning. Then get blamed/have to fix shortcomings. 🙄

That’s why I don’t understand why SMs get quarterly bonuses. They don’t do anything except scheduling and payroll. They don’t do inventory management, cash management, handle customers, run the shifts, train baristas, enforce standards, etc….it’s all on shifts. Why do they get the bonuses from our work?

I was neutral about the unionization effort at Starbucks when it first began (I’m pro-union and grew up in a union household my entire life), but after my experience trying to become an ASM/SM, I realized that Shifts have it the worst, but get none of the benefits from our work. Gotta Change that.

Truly. If the money wasn’t good I honestly would have been considering demoting by nowLmaoo

I was a shift at a different restaurant and then worked at Starbucks. Knowing all the extra work and stress and seeing how it is there I said no thank you to that position. I could sympathize more with my SSVs because I understood but yeah it looked like it sucked especially at the high volume DT, at the small cafe not as much but still.

My only issue is the push back that I get because I ask partners to do the right thing (like follow dress code or don’t give people dead shots) it’s like I shot their puppy. Honestly at this point I have zero fucks to give since I’m a few semesters away from graduating.
