weird shift today… (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by notyourgoth
hope everyone had a smooth friday shift. my day was going so well - was in a positive mood, was ahead of cleaning and we were caught up with customer orders on mobile, cafe and delivery. today was surprisingly slow considering that we are in a target shopping center. usually fridays arent but i guess customers had bills to pay lol

an hour before closing this couple comes in while i was covering register, they start saying their order until midway the guy says he likes my choker and then proceeds to say my neck is long (?) all giggly with a smile, and asks for my ethnicity afterwards. i stare at him, didnt respond cus wtf, but i proceed to ask what drink he would like to get. he says his drink then repeats his question. i tell him where im from and he says, “wow you are soooo tall!!!” (?) his lady friend asks why am i not in a good mood after that. i guess it was visible on my face that i wasn’t comfortable anymore but i tell her i had a long day today with a smile and she proceeds to tell me i shouldn’t work/that i should go home if im in a bad mood/tired. the whole time while talking to them, i was giving them a neutral, passive energy with a couple smiles here and there. they complained to both my coworkers that they didnt like my “tone to his wife” and that theyre never coming back to my store. (i filed an incident report afterwards btw.)

???… what did they want me to say to their harassment? or how to react to it? i simply ignored it and they got mad. lady friend said she used to work at starbucks, which feels like a lie. i’m so confused.

what’s crazy is that i usually wear turtlenecks, but this week i’ve been wearing a regular black t-shirt for comfortability as i just got a new tattoo on my stomach and its healing right now.

im sorry that sounds so uncomfortable. you reacted perfectly by not egging on their behavior.

I ignore creepy comments from customers such as where are you from, how old are you, even had a guy ask if I was single, esp on bar people just love to stare u down from the counter and talk to you.

I usually direct to another question such as what are you doing today, how have you been, etc. when people act like that they usually just want a reaction… don’t give it to them.
