i have no problem with customized drinks. that being said, please do not come into the store and order the “stranger things frappuccino” or whatever people are making up now. most of us have no idea what these drinks are. if you know how the drink is built, perfect! but if you come in and say the name of a drink that we do not have on the menu and that i’m not familiar with, and you have no idea what’s in it, i’m sorry but i cannot help you. i won’t even be mad if you show me a picture to show me how it’s built, but if you just come in with name of a drink you heard on tiktok, i won’t be able to help you.

had a customer being like "so i saw this on facebook... it's called an... elsa drink? and it's blue???"
maam that's fucking urnex
but i have had repeat incidents of people asking for butterbeer fraps. and i do generally know what they're looking for (usually its vbf, toffee nut and caramel, add caramel drizzle) but i won't make anything without a recipe because that is NOT something i want people to get comfortable ordering. you shouldn't expect to go order your harry potter and the legend of the nine dollar frappuccino without a recipe anywhere and you should be ashamed of yourself for even trying.

I had someone come and order the “squid game” frapp with no recipe… they didn’t understand why I was confused
astivana79 points9m ago
Isn’t the Squid Game frap the one where the barista shoots you for ordering it with no recipe?
somewheredaydreaming10 points9m ago
I laughed harder than I should have 😬
because_reasons___4 points9m ago
Omg! So did I. Best comment right there!!
Kristina-Louise1 points9m ago
They were very lucky they ordered through the drive thru that day and didn’t come inside
claretamazon20 points9m ago
Last year I had someone order the Sanderson Sister fraps and they truly believed that Sbux had partnered with Disney to make them. When she found out that they were just tiktok drinks she got so upset (not with us).
linseeded19 points9m ago
Someone ordered the “purple drink” and turns out it wasn’t a dragon drink, but had a tea that DOESNT EXIST and FRENCH VANILLA? Girl you’re at the wrong store. Ended up getting a shaken espresso 🤡
aee785 points9m ago
It's passion tea, soy, and vanilla syrup. It use to be a thing several years ago.
b__mo16 points9m ago
Still get asked for the unicorn frapp or the wanda and cosmo drink. Also the “halloween” fraps 🫠🫠
SortaSketchyNDed10 points9m ago
Call me an asshole but I will absolutely refuse to make those drinks. Too many times I’ve been yelled at and called ugly names cus I didn’t know what stupid fucking frappe they wanted
Ace_Hardwear9 points9m ago
okay, i feel like everyone knows what the "cotton candy " frap is but i usually say "hmm we don't have that one on our menu, do you know the recipe?" because i don't want to normalize baristas knowing non menu drinks, And because green beans wont know as well, idk if they think im stupid. its you tell me the recipe or nothin.
StormTheParade9 points9m ago
Problem with stuff like that is that it *used* to be a core menu drink until 2018. Same with the Pokémon Go Frappuccino, which was a promo offering in 2016, or the zebra/tuxedo/penguin/black & white frappuccino.
I was always more understanding of people trying to order those not knowing that they were pulled/discontinued, but the crazy social media drink trends that get labelled "secret menu" always drove me up a wall. I wish there was a way to get rid of the whole "secret menu" belief so customers stop thinking that employees are lying...
Ace_Hardwear2 points9m ago
ah that makes so much more sense now, no one had educated me on that before so thank you! and yes i agree with you im over the whole "secret menu " thing
Apprehensive-You52612 points9m ago
Yeah I remember when you could order this on the app or view it on their website they were actual fraps for a while along with cinnamon roll and red velvet I think
caedesb6 points9m ago
Had a guy order a vanilla dragonfruit frappe and insist it was on the menu
tslaampp4 points9m ago
"frankenfrappuccino" "lavender drink" maam what are you TALKING about??????!! also the "lavender drink" is a tiktok prank on the general public (and a punishment to baristas i guess). its literally fabuloso in a cup
Apprehensive-You52612 points9m ago
There was both of those drinks way back in the day on Starbucks site actually. The lavender one is probably the violet drink they’re referring too which was very berry hibiscus with coconut milk but that’s been discontinued anyways

I had a lady literally hold up the dt line because she was "looking up a drink on our secret menu". My ssv was like ma'am that doesn't exist. She ended up not getting anything after sitting there for like 5 minutes.
Unlucky_Assumption_93 points9m ago
someone literally asked for “the summer drink”

had a couple come to drive and order the "Wendy's Frappuccino" because they saw something about it and thought we would know how to exactly replicate a Wendy's freeze or whatever it is and we asked them what was in it because we don't have a drink by that name and they got mad we didn't know and when I asked them if they wanted something else they sat silently in the car and googled the drink without telling me that was what they were doing, then drove to the window and just showed me a picture of the drink still with no actual way for me to know what they really wanted. after holding up our line then coming inside to have me specifically help them figure out what they wanted, it ended up being a mocha Frappuccino with vanilla made with heavy cream.
bonjourimeric2 points9m ago
I had someone order a “campfire mocha” today and I just told them that was made up and asked if they wanted a normal mocha.
foxfenelle3 points9m ago
That sounds like it would be so good if it was real
caspi31 points9m ago
This poor grandmother tried to order rainbow refreshers (for her young grandkids in the back who asked for it) had to tell her and the kids that the secret menu isn’t a real thing and we didn’t have anything to make a rainbow refresher
