can someone give me the rules on calling out in this certain scenario😟 (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by huali4n

context:

1. our last manager was suddenly transferred to a new store
2. she was often behind on scheduling/didn't put trainees into the system very fast

pov: you call out of your shift an hour before it starts (it was an emergency😭) you tell your trainee you cant come in and they're cool about it. your old manager for some reason didn't input your trainee's schedule into the system, so it shows up on the dcr as coverage when it is not a coverage shift and you have been training someone for two weeks straight, it's just that the trainee isnt on the dcr.

so you call the store and your new manager (literally, its day two) tells you that you need to find coverage for your shift. i'm confused because there is no coverage, and im the only one training her. i explain this to her and tell her that the old manager didn't schedule my trainee for those two weeks and my trainee knows her shifts off a piece of paper she was given. she clocks in and off using timeclock.

i explain the situation for her and she sighs and tells me "it's fine." then hangs up 😭bruh what??

note: yes i know you're supposed to call off two hours in advance, but it really is an emergency 😭😭😭and my trainee's chilling having a saturday to herself. just not sure what this means for me in this scenario considering new manager hung up on me and didn't return a 'you're welcome' or anything

Sounds like your old sm put them in n awkward spot. I wouldn’t take it personally. They may be stressed. If they try to scold you about it though then I’d reiterate it’s an emergency. Things happen. You didn’t do anything wrong here.
