they’re so fucking annoying. any other profession allows you to complain without getting attacked but the second a barista makes fun of a 37 drink order with customisations we are made to be the villain

Even if the service was bad, they chose to go there. It was their choice. If they don’t actually like the service, they can go somewhere else.

Love the customer entitlement & this mindset. It’s giving me mmm “I never worked a food/beverage job” vibes.
I know the whole tipping system & the arguments from both sides. But let the tables be turned & they would be feeling the same way we feel now.

They’ve obviously never worked a restaurant or customer facing service job before; especially not outta survival. This job pays $15 *starting pay*, you really think people with bills, families, etc can afford to turn that down when most similar entry jobs pay federal minimum-$10 or so? Show some empathy and realize this isn’t just some fun silly little job where we relax and make latte art all day.

they wouldn’t last through one peak at a drive store.

i would love to see these people multi task during peak and give the SAME performance they expect from us, they wouldn't be able to save face
squidmeister12115 points9m ago
They literally just don’t get it lol
hmarie07164 points9m ago
Okay, so yes, we did sign up knowing what the job entails. We knew when we got hired that some people were going to be harder to please or deal with than others.
However, we’re still human beings and still have feelings. We’re not superhuman. We don’t have superpowers. We can only go so fast and do so much. If we can’t please you, then I’m more than happy to direct you to a different Starbucks location where you can try your luck there.
They wouldn’t want to deal with any disrespect, so why should we?

I have a theory!
Under capitalism, people are trained to think less of those in minimum wage jobs/who make less than them/etc, even though we're a vital part of the consumer economy. These people tend to think that being poor/working minimum wage is a moral failing, rather than a system of economic injustice pushing down on us.
Theory over.
