hi, partner from austria here. recently we’ve gotten *a lot* of requests for matcha with water, not the mtl. i think it’s offered in the us, but we dont do it here, we don’t even have a recipe for it. just in case anybody comes up and asks for it in the future, what’s the correct way to prepare it? i tried shaking a little bit of hot water with the powder in a shaker, but the plastic expanded and locked itself due to the pressure. woulda be grateful for any tips!

a hot matcha with water would just have to be stirred, and I’d ring it as a custom tea add matcha
An iced one id shake with cold water and ice, and ring it up as a matcha lemonade with no lemonade
I would think I

Iced is custom iced tea add matcha

Custom tea latte! I had someone order matcha with water once and didn't know how to rung it in. The other barista said it would be that. If it's iced, just matcha powder, cold water and ice, shake it. I haven't had someone order it hot, but I'd just do matcha and hot water and grab a stir stick to try and get rid of the clumps of matcha

It would be a custom tea! Custom tea lattes include milk which is what op said the customers don’t want.

Ah. I was told custom tea latte for how to ring it in. Because I did iced matcha latte and then hit the ask me and did no milk, only water. I asked a bunch and that was what I was told. But I only had it that one time

I've never had it ordered hot, but for iced it's definitely custom iced tea. Then add matcha and water as modifier.
The custom tea latte costs more because it's factoring milk.

We can steam cool water right? I mean that’s part of how I’ve seen some stores clean the gunk out. So maybe just like mtl but sub water
mmms4442 points9m ago
I have no idea. My store has a hot water spout thing I think. ( I can just pull down on the lever and I have super hot water for tea or hot americano) we have never steamed water at mine, at least not it never happened when I was working. I assume so gor stores that would need hot water and have no way of getting it

You could also steam cold water with the matcha like you would with milk? That way you’re not burning yourself

This is what I was imagining, it’s essentially just making a more traditional style matcha.

people do that to try to get it for cheaper lol. I was told to ring it up as a custom tea

i've seen matcha lemonade and doing that hot is no big deal. i imagine steaming water with matcha would work just fine. That's as close as we can get to pure matcha tea since $bux adulterates the matcha with a sweetener.
try just steaming 4 or 5 scoops of matcha in water like you would milk. I do not recommend stirring it. I used to make matcha at home before i found out $bux had the matcha latte, and it required whisking with a special matcha whisk or just using my emersion blender otherwise it tends to clump.

Wouldn’t that be a custom tea? I had customers that asked for matcha but no milk, with water.
And for hot, as a hot tea right?
desairologist2 points9m ago
You would just have to stir it, there’s no other safe way to do it. I occasionally get an order for it and I add the matcha to a steaming pitcher and the water and stir it in there to reduce splashes or burns and then pour it into the cup

I think everyone pretty much answered but it’s not offered in the US to my knowledge maybe a certain state has it but I haven’t seen anything on POS
