Should i leave, transfer , or stay? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by swiftlycrossings
I love being a barista but my coworkers are very cliquey and mean. My manager is great. Supervisors are pretty cool overall but, I just feel a VERY bad energy about the majority of my coworkers — plus they are all a big clique. They may be all younger / around the same age?? Not sure just super immature. Basically think they are better than me , can micromanage me (they are not supervisors) , talk badly and gossip, exclude me from things, etc. I am just the type of person where I can feel that energy and am super uncomfortable by it. I used to enjoy the job and have fun but they’ve ruined it. What should i do? It’s hurting my mental health .

My store is very cliquey too. Some of my coworkers are anywhere from 16 or 17 up to like 23 years old. Theres 2 shift supervisors i love. One is like 35 and the other is in her 70s i believe. They are my 2 favorites there based off how neutral they are and how they treat me (im 30).. Rest of my coworkers are very cliquey and i actually used to be hurt of bothered that they never include me in conversations or hang outs outside of work like they all do with eachother. But then i stopped letting it get to me over time. I just stopped caring. Cuz im not guna let others determine how my time at work is guna be spent. Im there to do my job. If nobody talks to me cuz they have their own clique, cool not a problem. Yea its nice to have some or atleast 1 work friend but i stopped letting it hurt me or annoy me. My mental health on the coworkers' front is so much better because of it lol

I don’t work for a franchise store and I’m worried about transferring and getting insurance and stuff.

There should be at least one person in your current store willing to help you figure it out. It should be your manager, helping you traverse through this scenario, but if you can’t transfer then maybe just leave. It’s a decent job to have and all but never worth hurting your mental health
