SSV here, i've been with starbucks since 2017. my old store was closed permanently due to covid so I quit late 2020 and was rehired at another store in late 2021 after I moved states. I like my new store a lot, I love my coworkers and after the raise it pays great. I just applied to ASU so obviously I plan to be here for a while. but a couple months ago my SM decided to take her coffee break, so currently we're without a manager. there's only one other store in town so that manager is supposed to be dual managing us while corporate finds us an SM.

rather than equally split time between our stores and support us when we need it, the SM decided to stick us with that stores ASM, who has only been in that position for 3 months total. so, the ASM of the other store is basically our acting manager at the moment, and it's been.... okay. we could really use the support of an experienced SM but the ASM is doing what they can and we recognize that.

now, we have a few partners who transfer back and forth between the summer and the school season, so we tend to be a little understaffed during summer but we pick back up once school starts. so at the beginning of the school year we get those partners back and start getting our normal amount of customers again.

but here's where my issue is. the ASM that has been writing our schedules has been under scheduling the partners at my store in order to bring in partners from their store to cover hours over here. apparently, they have too many partners over there so they have been giving our hours to those partners at *my* store. and it's not like they just come cover a shift if someone calls out, they're purposefully being scheduled over here on the written schedule. a lot of partners at my store are not getting the hours they want, myself included.

after talking to these partners, i find out they don't even *want* to be scheduled at my store. they want to work at their own store!! in my case of being an ssv, we had enough shifts already. there's an ssv at the other store who is getting scheduled more hours than me at my own store. and the SM just approved another shift transfer to my store who has already worked more hours than me this past week. i have fully open availability (not in school) and have begged to work full time, and lately i haven't even been hitting 25 hours.

this is seriously so frustrating and i don't know what to do about it. myself and the other SSVs have been discussing it and we're all extremely ticked off. i plan to sit down with the ASM tomorrow and tell them, and i fear im not going to be nice about it. in my opinion, if you guys have too many people there, take care of it over there. don't give away the hours we're begging to work and act like there's nothing you can do about it. i also recently double checked my availability and saw that it was changed without my knowledge to be more restricted, while this whole time i thought i had open to close availability every day. don't know how that happened but it really upset me and i'm waiting for approval after changing it back.

not to mention, i feel like we're already on corporates shit list for some reason, seeing as every other store gets all the new things. we still have the old espresso machines, the old ovens, old everything. the other store in town is so shiny and new, new ovens, new mastrenas, brand new remodel, and they're building a third store in town expected to be done next year. something breaks at my store every day. it takes *weeks* after putting in a ticket and resubmitting and resubmitting over and over to get someone out here to fix something. we have been begging and begging at least for the new espresso machines since long before i was hired and it's always a new excuse as to why we can't have them. we're like the forgotten child.

last time i asked for the hours i needed nothing happened. and every day my baristas are getting more agitated about the management and scheduling situations. if my talk with the ASM tomorrow doesn't go well, i may just reach out to my DM and see if there's anything to be done. i think the scheduling issue is ridiculous and shouldn't be happening in the first place. i think the other stores manager needs to give us some support. i know the ASM is doing what they can but they're still so new to the position and to suddenly be practically running our store was too much too fast. i need corporate to give us the tools we need to succeed and stop treating us like an unwanted stepchild.

that's it, hopefully i can get some solutions from the ASM tomorrow and ease the partners (and myself) minds about everything. (and since i know some of my coworkers also use this subreddit, if this sounds familiar to your situation no it doesn't and keep scrolling LOL)

Maybe ask the partners from the other store to give up some shifts? I feel like everyone is looking for hours these days so that may be far out in left field. Sorry friend. That's a tough one.
